  1. The show definitely grew on me as it went on. They perform the heck out of it, especially the soloists!
  2. Lawrence Township sure is unique! They definitely perform with a ton of passion!
  3. I think the performance times and weather really played a role in prelims placements. Permian and Wylie had awesome time slots while Haltom and TC had to perform when it was pretty chilly. I’m almost surprised that Waxahachie’s time slot didn’t push them into a medal, but I supose the top 3 are really in a league of their own (and then Hebron in another league after that ). Then again, KC seemed to hold their own with that impressive 6th place coming from an early time slot.
  4. I’m happy that Prosper is finding success after being left out of DFW finals (they really should’ve been in finals there imo).
  5. Also Haltom 10th??? After doing PHENOMENALLY at St. Louis. I know Haltom usually struggles with cleanliness so maybe the early performance time hit them hard?
  6. Keller’s social media shows that Keller was 3rd in Color Guard, not KC.
  7. O’Fallon was great! Not as clean as I would’ve liked for their last BOA competition, but they are an easy lock for top half here.
  8. Blue Springs was better than many have given them credit for this season. The show is phenomenally designed but I don’t really care for the theme. Overall, the show isn’t as magical as last year, but it’s still really pretty close. Too electronic for my taste but the performance, especially visually, was stunning. The amount of detail in the design made it feel like I was watching DCI.
  9. I agree. What I find so fascinating about FloMo is that even though nothing they do is the most difficult thing we’ll see in San Antonio, they will likely have the most effective show. It’s so rare to find a program that can nail a design and execute near perfection year after year and stay at the top. They are the best band in Texas imo.
  10. Carmel has me conflicted. The visual demand is INSANE but there is just way too much going on and it’s much dirtier than I’m used to from Carmel. Also I don’t understand the theme and how the musical selections make any sense with it, why did they arrange Queen to death??? The design is the least effective since 9 Lives in my opinion. The show is pretty beautiful but feels so one-note throughout. Edit: I read a post on the HornRank forum and know now where the music came from. Still an odd choice in my opinion.
  11. Sorry Edgewood but that narration is absolutely tragic.
  12. Does anyone know what Avon’s show is called?
  13. For me Bowie is art. Their shows are spectacularly designed and detailed and generally follow a character or story. Each performer is a character. Take their 2017 production for example. SO theatrical and story driven. Keller’s show is very much a talent show to me. Completely focused on the skills and talents of the performers. Very exposed so it’s easy to be impressed but easy to see any flaws. Hardly any bells and whistles.
  14. Avon! 8 notes! Best guard ever. Definitely a strong champion contender at Nats but I think Texas could have an upper hand in music and still fight for that eagle!
  15. LT is always SO fun! Such a crowd pleaser!
  16. There’s a video of FloMo from region. Ugh it’s so good. Would surprised to see them not medal here, probably taking a spot in the top 2.
  17. Wine Dark Sea has to be the most overused piece in marching band currently.
  18. Probably Cedar Ridge because they are a consistent finalist and Bowie because of how good they did at Waco. But anything could happen and it wouldn’t be surprising to see any combination of those bands in finals.
  19. I’d say that at least 2 of the bands you mentioned will make finals, and the others (if they don’t make it) would all be in the top 20.
  20. Homestead was awesome! Super high level of demand and easily the most I’ve ever liked a Homestead show.
  21. No offense, but it is pretty much impossible to predict a score.
  22. My favorite overall packages so far are Reagan and TWHS. I LOVE Keller’s closer (I’m biased). Also, Hebron’s opener has me in awe. I can’t wait to see Leander’s Britney section live. Bowie’s aesthetic and attention to detail is enthralling and I love Waxahachie’s entire music book. There’s so much more and I think this thread definitely needs to be revisited after SA and Nats.
  23. Honestly I don’t think it would be totally unexpected for Haltom or Waxa to medal over Keller. This competition is judged so differently to BOA and out of the top 5 (other than Hebron), Keller has the most room to grow. Also, I believe that this I Haltom’s last competition so I expect peak cleanliness from them.
