That was by far Vandegrifts best run that I've seen since I've been down here for BOA San Antonio. They're absolutely in the medal hunt. And not just the bronze.

They've turned into one of my favorite bands, loved that today!

Gonna be in the top of 112 for finals, was in the stands for my first BOA San Antonio last year so this will be my first time in the stands for finals! Looking forward to some amazing performances tonight. Will be posting a summary of my thoughts after each finalist band.

Rouse was incredible live. They sound SO GOOD.

Clovis beat Marian Catholic in prelims, but a penalty kept them in the bottom half of finals.

Odessa Permian tied the 3rd place band in prelims and finals, just didn’t have enough judges to advance on the judges preference rule.

Pebble Hills and Montwood are the two advancers from Area A.

Area A Finals: 7th - Hereford High School 6th - Andrews High School 5th - Monahans High School 4th - Lamesa High School 3rd - Big Spring High School, Advance to State 2nd - Pecos High School, Advance to State 1st - Canyon High School, Advance to State

The high school I went to competed against Clovis quite a few times, they were always a band I looked forward to getting to see in person. They're definitely the biggest voice in terms of BOA type programming/performance in this region of the southwest. Though they've really started to outdo themselves since about 2012, this is the strongest I think they've ever been. Topping Dripping Springs in the music caption is no small achievement. Pretty awesome to see someone about an hour away from me competing and making finals on such a big stage in this activity! If you didn't catch them in prelims, you want to in finals. Their preshow is something you don't want to miss.

You should check out Orlando if you were gonna watch this online. The top half of this finals is going to be great, Stoneman Douglas and Park Vista were fantastic.

I have ten bands as locks, Marcus isn't one of those just solely for the fact that I haven't seen or heard the show yet. I'll make that assessment next week.

Very surprised. Just like last year. But like last year, you can make top five at a regional and be close, and be top half at a regional and still miss. Anything is possible.
