Absolutely no one expected them to win and beat Wax last season, either. I love your confidence and conviction, and while Sachse may not be on the same level as they were last year (and Wax is arguably better, conversely), it isn’t wise to discount ANY program here. We know from experience that anything can happen.

Definitely a typo. Happens to me every single time, but looks like this person didn’t catch it. It’s not that deep.

I’d expect to see them in the top half and possibly medal.

There’s a schedule just a couple posts above yours. Once preliminaries are done, there is a break until finals. Then the top ten bands perform in finals. First the bottom 5 bands in random order, then the top 5 bands in random order.

Surely you meant pertussis? While this is obviously sad for the kids and I wish them all a speedy recovery, I'm laughing at the thought of percussion being a plague. 🤣

There are a good handful of mismatches between the two pages. Trust the schedules more than the enrollment page. There are still 18 bands going, as Parkland HS was added yesterday.

Different contest, different dynamics, but Sachse was ranked literally right next to Southlake and LD Bell at San Antonio last season. Same judging panel, too. It’s not out of the realm of possibility. I don’t necessarily see them outscoring most of those groups, particularly Prosper or Keller (Aledo is a wild card but had a GREAT 2024 season), but certainly being side-by-side with them. Also, Southlake is only doing prelims so they’re a non-factor.

Sachse is going to be juuuuuust fine, you guys. They won Area last season (beating Waxahachie), hung with some great names at Waco (Henny and Timber Creek), and have a new band director that catapulted a brand new 4A school to an Area Championship (their first year of existence), three State appearances and an honor band win in only three years. I would be shocked if they weren’t in finals.
