DB may have my favorite show of the ones I watched today. So entertaining and so well done!!!!

Congrats to those bands!!!! But how much does this support the true depth of Texas Marching Band talent when 3 great bands who would be in the mid level results in a Texas regional, probably would not have made finals in SA Super Regional, but are finalists at GN!!!!! Wish our best could go more often but just too costly and schedule is killer when UIL state goes to yearly in 2023.

Any and all are appreciated. I have a way to make cookies too, but unfortunately I was at the dome helping our band and haven't mastered how to remotely do that yet...maybe next year!

So let's do the hypothetical guessing game challenge. I know it changes year to year and is random based on judges, but: What does everyone think the high prelims score will be? I think it will be 92.5 and What is the score that the 14th band will have to hit to make finals? I think 88 this year given the quality of competition.

Exactly, they finished less than 3 pts below 3 juggernauts and did so without a closer at Katy which changes the whole energy of their ending. I'm excited to see how the show and performance matches up to the best bands in the state and nation. I think the bands from 12 to 24 can go in any direction given quality of performance and judges preference. Gonna be an awesome competition for those last 2 or 3 spots. Houston bands have stepped it up this year but so have so many other bands. The quality of this years performances across the board is awesome!

Agree, this is where my frustration comes in. We keep hearing that GN is national and has bands from all over the country, only it's not and it doesn't. It's mostly east / central and caters to bands within 8 hours. For Texas bands who have at least a 2 day truck trip with props it's just not seemingly inclusive. I also don't care about tradition of this is where they've done it forever. Either it's truly an inclusive national event or it's not. Plus, we mostly all agree BOA SA is a way tougher competition than GN the last few years.

True, but dang it, all these separate streaming services add up, ha! I'll just put it beside my subscription to Flo-Marching and Box5!

Well that sucks considering I have a years subscription to Box5 and none for NFHSnetwork...ugh.

I think everyone I have talked to, including our band directors are under the impression (unless told otherwise) that this will start next year. I don't know if I've heard anyone (even on forums) believe it won't. At least for 6A. Remember, they had zero issues cramming in a 6A competition last year when it wasn't scheduled.

Agree. It will be to BOAs best interest to try and work within the Texas UIL schedule. It is only better when Texas bands attend GN and/or if they just admit that SA Super Regional is a big deal and add a semi's.

It wasn't originally though. So when you choose to go to GN you do so ahead of time and prep your show in advance. When they made an exception last year to also have 6A state due to COVID it probably put a small kink in some of the bands plans. It's absolutely hard as heck for bands to compete on Friday/Saturday then Monday/Tuesday and then Thur thru Saturday. One of them has to give and most will give up GN due to costs. Starting next year 2023. Still needs a final vote but no one thinks that will fail.

Wow, what a stacked region. So many of the bottom 5 bands in this region could be top 4 in the other regions. Crazy competitive!

We just need 12!!! everyone cross your fingers so we can get 5 really good bands to state this year!!!

Is Is the drawing order already selected? how do they know when the bands aren't even "theoretically" qualified for area yet?

Clearly everyone has opinions but Connally was not a surprise for finals. They werent as flashly but had a very clean show with some of the hardest musical arrangements.
