Agreed. The new band director at NL is from Anna. He’s brought in a lot of those elements that make Anna great.

IMO, with the way judging has changed, most schools will be going this route. It’s not about blasting brass and hiding woodwinds at the back, lol. I’ve talked to a few show designers who are needing to totally rethink how they design. I was very happy to see NL bounce back from what happened at state last year. While I don’t think the judges were too far off last year, it was definitely nice to see them have a strong showing at Melissa.

Arlington 13. Lake Dallas 14. Kennedale I couldn’t catch the rest because I only caught a quick glance at the sheet. The scores were all over the place. One judge had an eight way tie in one category. Hopefully they will be posted soon so I can really study.

3A champ -Mt Vernon(I might’ve heard this wrong I ran to the bathroom because it was taking forever) 4A 3rd - NL 2nd - Canton 1st - Celina Celina swept captions except for marching. Canton and Celina tied 5a 3rd Emerson 2nd argyle 1st liberty I’m blanking on 5A captions. I think argyle got most but I know liberty got at least one, probably music based on the ranking 6A caption sweep by RC 3rd - arlington 2nd - south grand prairie 1st - RC

I did. Anna and Celina are neck and neck. I don’t believe either have their full show on the field. It will be interesting to see how it comes together over the next few weeks. Sulphur Springs was incredibly loud which the crowd loved but did not show a lot of refinement or musicality. Get mad at me for saying that if you want, but it’s true. That doesn’t win anymore. North Lamar looked much stronger than they’ve looked in years. Canton looked about the same as last year. I personally would’ve put Canton over China Spring. I was surprised CS made finals. Again, another very loud band. They need to refine and show more contrast.

I’m predicting another Celina v. Anna showdown based on what I saw yesterday at Melissa.
