  1. Good for Georgetown and McNeil for staging a comeback in finals!
  2. 1-3, 5-7, and 10-12 were all TIGHT in prelims. Especially crazy considering how important 1st, 5th, and 10th all are.
  3. I know you can't compare scores across competitions but I would quite honestly take the top 3 from Conroe over the top 3 from Bedford.
  4. Music Ensemble straight up kept Coppell out of finals.
  5. https://www.hornrank.com/2018/10/bedford-prelims-oct-6-2018.html
  6. Thirty minutes for Wakeland to warm back up plus two and a half hours for performances plus 15 for Forney (perhaps) and 15 for tabulation. Even with a cut retreat, that's pushing 1 AM. I can stay up until 4 AM for band but some of these kids have been going since early this morning and two bands have long bus rides back overnight. It's not ideal, but I understand why BOA called it anyway.
  7. The show would have gone past midnight. Gotta know when to fold them.
  8. Nobody dropped - Jeremiah Wooten just has bad information
  9. They are 100% past both of them now. I am deeply impressed. I do see why they lost visual.
  10. Bridgeland!!!! They're going to ruin some lives in a couple of years.
  11. A storm will probably cancel finals. Let's hope it stays back! meep: you can hear the thunder on the FloCast
  12. A second year school too!
  13. Area D drops off after 6th or 7th-ish. I don't think the 10th place band here would advance out of D, though. Or H. Or C.
  14. History time here! Unfortunately (and not my prediction), this is the first time SFA has missed a regular season regional finals in a long time. Perhaps ever. However, they did lock up another class championship. It's probably their 6th or 7th at the Houston/Huntsville regional. This is Cy-Fair's first time in the top 5 at the Houston regional! Let's see if it sticks through the rest of the evening. This is the first time that *two* Katy ISD bands have performed in a regional finals. Congrats to Taylor and Seven Lakes! Tonight welcomes back some missing faces to finals - Good luck to Oak Ridge, James Taylor and Brazoswood tonight! I *think* there may have been a time or two where Cy-Falls and Langham Creek were in finals together, but if not, let Bridgeland's first class championship be the first time two Cy-Fair ISD bands have performed together in finals. If Reagan wins tonight, they will tie SFA for the highest number of Houston/Huntsville regional wins (five). For TWHS, this could be their third Houston win and fourth overall, and if Vandegrift repeats, it'll be their third regional win overall. Related fact, Vandegrift's first regional finals was at this regional in 2010, where they were a class champion and placed 3rd overall in finals.
  15. Time for some history keeping: Congratulations to Prosper for their first regional finals! A great accomplishment they've been working towards for a couple of years now. Good footing on their way to GN. Congrats to Keller for their first ever class placement award in prelims! And they are eyeing their first ever BOA medal. LD Bell keeps their streak going with another top 5 prelims finish at the DFW regional. Flower Mound winning prelims keeps the class championship in Lewisville ISD. A Lewisville band has been both 1st and 2nd at this regional in prelims and finals every iteration since 2013 (including a 1st place in 2012). This is Union's first time outside of the top half of a BOA competition, excluding GN, in... at least ten years now. Perhaps since the last time they performed in Texas. Would have to do some deep digging. However, this could very well change depending on their performance tonight.
  16. Not that I think it's at all transferable, but Keller is safe. Bell is likely good to go as well. Waxahachie and Timber Creek are in a great place. I want to check the recap on performance scores for Coppell and Duncanville. But Duncanville's flavor is all UIL in the first place so I'm not willing to put a ton of stock into how they did today (unless they got like 11th or 12th).
  17. Cedar Park through Hebron on the performance times.
  18. Cy-Fair is in the top 5.
  19. I'm fine with the announced class awards. I do have some questions on top five bottom five.
  20. It would be their first ever UIL medal if so!
  21. Or you could be like a certain band in Oklahoma that gets away with it...
  22. And 2016 was a total shaft. Area F judging was out of control.
  23. That's quite true. However, it is my deep understanding by knowing people who have worked there that it is modest in that regard. The scale of Music For All is nothing like think tanks and hospitals or top interest groups where pay can be better than the private sector.
