Westlake Marching Festival
Clarinot replied to VRHSRangerTBone's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Does anyone know where I can find a roster of bands attending for predictions? -
I want to create a special TxBands shirt that we can give away at meetmes and such... something really sweet looking. Would anyone be interested in designing it?
-
Events can now be added by users at http://www.txbands.com/predict/public_addevent.php. After you add them it goes to the moderator for approval, but hopefully this will significantly speed up things

Read the BOA Arlington Predictions thread (in this forum) for instructions on how to re-predict if you want to remove Reagan or Marcus from your list.
-
IMPORTANT! If you predicted for BOA Arlington before this message was posted (about 9PM) you can have the opportunity to re-submit predictions because of the Ronald Reagan and Marcus High School pullout. All you need to do is click the link below to continue. If eligible your old predictions will automatically be deleted and you will be taken to the form to enter your predictions. If you click the link to delete your predictions and do not resubmit them then you won't be in the database and cannot get points! http://www.txbands.com/repredict_boa_arlington.php

How about this instead: since I'm guessing a lot of people predicted RR somewhere in there, what about +1 "comp" point for if RR appeared on your list? We could do that or the ability to repredict.... I don't really care either way.

Carrollton TOC is up for predictions!

BOA Merger
Clarinot replied to Clarinot's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
phew.... I had this horrible picture of "Music for All is proud to present in finals performance..." -
http://www.bands.org/public/resourceroom/mfainc.asp Music for All Foundation and Bands of America Unite and Form Music for All, Inc. Organization to Have Broader Reach, Deeper Impact on Music Education INDIANAPOLIS - Bands of America and the Music for All Foundation today announce the merger of the two groups to create Music for All, Inc., one of the largest and most influential national music education organizations in support of active music making. The merger became effective September 14, 2006. http://www.bands.org/public/resourceroom/mfainc.asp Wow... this BOA Network e-newsletter caught me off guard. Did anyone else know about this?
-
Please post suggestions for prediction events. I can already say that we will have prediction for all BOA events in TX, areas, and state marching. So what else besides those?
-
I have put the "old" system back up for the coming marching band season. Yes or no to awarding 1 point for correctly predicting captions?
-
We're going to use the "new system" but remove the blanks for scores so it will just be +1 for each correct placement.
-
As we approach the start of predictions for the 2006 marching band season I would like input on the new system when we used it with DCI this summer. Please give us feedback on how you liked the new predictions format (and system). Also I'm taking suggestions for prizes

DivX is the best quality codec for any marching video you will find. Converting to plain .avi will either multiply the space requirement by 10 if you keep the same quality, or reduce it to crappy quality. Just go to www.divx.com and download the free 6.2 player and codec. I should mention that the player is free. There is some option for Pro that costs money, but you get what you need for free.

Oh Fortisimo, You read too deeply into my efforts to be funny and encourage members to donate. Hey, whats a little TxBands humor in the middle of the night? Please respect our mods. They received (or will receive, if new, because we have yet to email it) a full page of instructions on how to moderate, and what to moderate. All of their instructions come from me and Dynasty. I promise you, they will close threads, move threads, warn users, delete posts, and even edit content. Thanks for your understanding.

Fascism? Well, close but no cigar. Let us discuss Fascism in its parts: As broken down through Dictionary.com 1) Dictator - Well me and Dynasty are both admins so that more like an oligarchy. 2) Strong Economic Controls - Well... Users have to donate so that power is in your hands (democracy) 3) Supression through Terror - We don't have the money to hire death squads. See Donations for more information. 4) Censorship - Well, I admit, we're caught red handed. There is a bad word filter. Dang... We're Facist 5) Beligerent Nationalism - Band: It's just better in Texas! 6) Racism - Well we do have a handful of non-band members on this site so we'll save the signs and propaganda for another day. But, thanks for the advice.

Folks, From me and Dynasty, we do apologize. I know this doesn't make us look that responsible, but please remember that we are both students too and we have to fulfill that responsibility first. When we meet tomorrow, we'll finalize everything and post it ASAP.

Meet TxB People at DCI SA!
Clarinot replied to Clarinot's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Just visiting family... nothing exciting like goverment work -
Congratulations to Lustra.exe for winning the DCI Season Pass. Check back in a couple days and we'll have the next giveaway posted.
-
No, we did mean last friday night. We just had some small complications. You'll know TODAY!

Meet TxB People at DCI SA! DCI Southwestern is tomorrow! I am in Illinois for a while so I won't be there. However, Travis (Dynasty) will. He is in Section 113, Row 2, Seat 14 or 15. He says he'll be wearing a dark blue shirt that says "Space Camp 1985" and will possibly have meetme rewards if you come and say hi! RSVP in this thread if you want to meet up!
