Probably not anyone in my region, I saw all the 3'a and there were some good ones, but nothing special. Hebbronville will make it for 2A in our state year though.

Wait can someone please explain to me how this works? So 3a and 5a go to state one year, then 1a and 4a the next year?

Posted

Yeah, they altrenate the years.

Like Bluebellbrass said, with re-alignments it's hard to tell. I guess the most accurate thing to say is that I am cautiously optimistic. It will definetly will not be a fight for the weak of heart though- that's for sure.

3A and 5A go in Even numbered years and 1A, 2A, 4A go in Odd numbered years.

i dont think their will be much of a difference. hopefully My band makes it. there was one band in our Area not to far from from here but not in our district that made like 3 so itll be hard hopefully the judges will be fair my friends got cheated last state year

Which areas will be really competitive next year? I'm lookin at area D mostly... but i really have no clue which so called "powerhouse" schools will be in what area.

Also... do bands going to BOA GN generally try to get to state, or do they concentrate on BOA?

The only 5A Area I know about is Area D. Here is a list of top competitors:

Cedar Park

Leander

Winston Churchill

Ronald Reagan

James Bowie (Austin)

Judson

Seguin

Westlake

How it will pan out in Area D (in my opinion) according to how UIL works:

1) Cedar Park (2nd in State Finals '04)

2) Winston Churchill (5th in State Finals '04)

3) Ronald Reagan (8th in State Finals in '04)

4) James Bowie (9th in State Finals in '04)

Just think...What would happen if with the Conroe, Spring, and Klein districts were still in this Area. Add the Woodlands, Spring, Westfield, Klein Forest, and Klein to the mix. You might even have the 2nd place at Grand Nats in '05 band watching from home.

Other "good" Areas are Area E and Area F. But probably the best is Area D.

It would make things interesting if Spring, The Woodlands & Westfield were in Area D. But, Spring & Westfield aren't what they used to be. Which is unfortunate.

Furthermore...

After what Ronald Reagan produced in 2005, their music ability is something that needs to be notice now. That band can flat out play.

Yes---they have some music abilitity and they can sort of flat out play. But there are better bands that have greater music ability and that can flat out rock the crowds. I've noticed that since their inception as a high school that they produce better placement results in BOA than in UIL. I stick with my placements.

I would also say that one of the toughest area competitions will be Area B.

Haltom

Richland

L.D. Bell

Marcus

Martin

Plano East

Hebron

Lewisville

Collyville

Area C also has three of the top bands in the state-

Berkner

Coppell

Duncanville

I hate to say it's hard to say.

Each year it seems that Marching Bands in Texas are sky rocketing. I don't know if its the new music or the judges are being easy on them.. i don't know.

I see it as that people in Texas Marching Bands, people are realizing band is life..and are actually devoting this year as something good.

I honestly can't wait until next year because if Round Rock does as good as we did last year, we definitely have a chance to make state.

That's all I have to say.

Indeed, and not just because we are in there, but because bands like Bell, Richland, and Haltom provide such intense competition.

Here is the Area distribution of '04 bands that made the Finals at State with the new reallignments:

Area B

Haltom (7th)

L.D. Bell (1st)

Area C

Duncanville (3rd)

Area D

Cedar Park (2nd)

Ronald Reagan (8th)

Winston Churchill (5th)

James Bowie (9th)

Area E

Langham Creek (4th)

Clements (10th)

Area F

The Woodlands (6th)

Take it as you want. Area D has the best talent.

You can't really gauge on who has the "best" Area with results from two years ago. So much has changed in Texas marching band since 2004.

Bands like Richland, Marcus, Cypress Falls & James Bowie have all stepped up their game.

I expect Cedar Park to advance to the State Championships. Not saying they will place first in Area D because it's still way way too early to make any such predictions. But, the improvement by James Bowie over the years cannot be overlooked.

Also, I feel that we should be celebrating the amount of talent that we have in our state. Only a few across the country can really say that. Personally, I'm excited about the upcoming 2006 marching season. It looks like it's going to be one of, or if not, the best year for Texas marching band.

I'll probably say it again once the season approaches but...

As a spectator, I can't wait to see you all of you kids "bring it."

Same here. Next year will be my first year to be a spectator since I am graduating in May (w00t-w00t).

So yeah i think its too early to tell who is gonna be good next year or who's gonna make it to State or not. I in fact don't really care who makes it as long as its a good compitition and the kids in the bands at state have fun and do their shows to the best of their abilities. Good luck to all in 2006 State year!!!!!! and as mbui and euro_euph06 said just "Bring it!"
