I couldn’t find anywhere that this had been stated on this website, and I just thought that I would share the news of a very upsetting story that happened a few nights ago.

At a Broken Arrow football game, an Alto Saxophone player fell over the rail of the stands and passed away. I’m sure you can imagine the grieving that is going on around right now, and please keep your thoughts and hearts in mind of this students family and the Broken Arrow Band. We’re all family here.

His name was Jaymeson West. Here is more information on the story:

On behalf of the entire Txbands.com Staff, our deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to Jaymeson's family and The Pride of Broken Arrow for their loss.  Our thoughts and well-wishes are with you during this heartbreaking tragedy.

We became aware of this story on Friday night through a friend who lives in the Tulsa area.  Internally, we were hoping this was just a freak accident and that he would pull through.  Unfortunately, his father's Facebook post told a different story and it was the one that we feared the most.

During my Senior year in High School, one of our former band students took his own life.  He actually designed our show shirt for that season.  He sat immediately to my left in Calculus class.  Although he was two grades younger than I was, we would still chat about video games while the teacher was trying to give his lesson.  I never knew about the amount of pain he was in.  He never showed it.  Seeing the empty chair the next day was difficult.
