Percplayer19 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 BISD has always had good marching band programs especially Richland and Haltom. Two of my boys went through the Richland programs starting in 2007 and I'm still a BISD volunteer for the Richland Area Band Boosters (RABB). Birdville took a downturn after losing there director but I anticipate they will rebound and be back at it. Richland has a great opportunity to do something at State this year. We have a proud tradition at BISD and wish Haltom and Birdville good luck this year. Quote

Birdville has been doing pretty bad these last few years and nothing seems to be changing that. Their show is about a bridge.... Haltom has done a good job of trailing right behind Richland but has yet to beat them. They have a show with a tarp covering most of the football field and they have yet to receive that tarp and learn drill on it which is a huge disadvantage. Richland is using the same props but they are totally different from last year. I went to their preview show and they have some very hard drill and some very hard music at a very fast tempo that seems to just get faster as the show goes on. I wish luck to Richland and Birdville at state this year. Quote

They maybe not as loud and rip roaring as other bigger bands, but they have a strong history of a well-balanced ensemble. That showed in their appearance at St. Louis prelims last year, when they almost edged out Owasso in music ensemble. Quote

Their past 2 shows have been shows about lights... watch them add lights to their bridge this year and call it a “state winning show” Quote

Last year was the first time Richland has even been close to at Richland level for the past 5 years so.... I would start with that second . I went and saw all three previews. I really enjoy birdvilles a lot ! Haltom is doing so incredible for being this early. And Richland is doing pretty well just don't like there music what so ever ! If anything I wouldn't be suprised seeing birdville beat Richland this year !! Quote
