Danpod Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 The Crossmen 2008: Planet X "A place where the magic, mysticism, and beauty of Gustav Holst’s The Planets meets the groove, style, and passion of the Crossmen’s past explorations of Planet Earth." The Planet Earth trilogy is a series of shows from The Crossmen performed from 1992 through 1994. They are among the most memorable Crossmen shows in their history. The meaty hornline parts, rockin' drumline, and overall groovy music are what fans adored about these shows, especially the 1992 show. In 1992, The Crossmen had one of the smallest hornlines in the top 12, yet they captured 6th place at DCI Finals. I strongly suggest you get a hold of the 1992 show because every person I have introduced the show to has completely fallen in love with it. Should be a banner year for The Crossmen. Quote
Skippy Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 92 definitely surpasses all other Crossmen shows. That was a fantastic year for DCI shows. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Agreed. SCV 92 is easily one of my top 5 favorite shows. Back to the Crossmen, here is a midi of part of the show http://yataforluda.com/crossmen2008.htm sounds kind of cool, not really my style though Quote
Xenon Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 That sounds really awesome, but I would really like to hear less unison and standard chord structures in the brass and more differentiation between the lines in the low mid and high brass parts. I really like all the different takes and grooves on the Jupiter melodies, though. Quote
