radchad Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 So what about WGI? Who's going? What guard are you in? Who can you not wait to see? I'm in the Ars Nova "A" Guard. So I will definitely be in Dayton. Quote
supermanuel Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 well I'm in the UofM Winterguard (Afterglow), but this is our first year and we're only competing in the local circuit here in minnesota (i think it includes wisconsin and iowa or something like that) i'm definitely excited about this year and really looking forward to competing Quote
Danpod Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Here are a couple of links to the WGI Guard Events in Texas. Austin Regional: http://www.wgi.org/events/eventdetails.php?id=190 Dallas Regional: http://www.wgi.org/events/eventdetails.php?id=225 Houston Regional: http://www.wgi.org/events/eventdetails.php?id=193 We did a MeetMe/Donation Drive at the WGI Austin Regional two years ago. Maybe we can set something like that up again. Quote
borchnork Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 yah, our guard is going next year. to bad I'll have graduated by that time. Right now, we're just looking to rise up as high as possible in the Texas state circuit first. We've already managed 2 consecutive championships! Quote
radchad Posted November 14, 2007 Author Posted November 14, 2007 I can't remember what your show was last year. Quote
borchnork Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 our guards? It didn't have a title I don't think. But it was pretty amazing, I must say. I was on floor crew for three competitions, and the improvement our guard made to where they had a 100% flawless execution at the NTCA finals... gah! it gave me goosebumps! Quote
the terminator Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 we are going to have two guards this year, with the JV being all band members. It's amazing how our director gets us to be involved, I'm doing floor crew Quote
borchnork Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I may actually join this year... I'm debating because I really want to learn so I can do DCI, but our guard director wants more than just ONE guy if he adds guys at all. Quote

radchad Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 I'm going to become a band director.. and so one of the reasons I picked up guard(only winterguard) was to have something like that on a resume. My HS director was soo talented. He did pretty much everything, and that really impressed me.. So I am going to do just that. I'm a drill tech, a musical intern, student teacher, in a winterguard, and helping teach a winterguard. WInterguard has become really fun, and I recommend anyone to do it. ESPECIALLY if you just sit on your butt all winter doing nothing. Quote
sax5warrior Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I am hosting NTCA Winterguard Championships, NTCA Percussion Championships and WGI Dallas Regional WOOHOO! Quote

Then I'll see you there! I just talked to the Captain and Co-Captain of our guard, and both want me to join really badly. So yah... now to see my parent's reaction... mainly my dad. Quote
borchnork Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 our guard IS going this year. But we're not sure to which one... Either Austin or possibly Oklahoma City... O well, I get to go because of floor crew!! Quote
mbui Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Anyone on here a member of Ars Nova's Open Winter Guard from last season (or anyone that knows the answer to my question)? I was wondering what music was being used in the show? Into the Sublime is hands down my favorite guard show, ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z9gl0oIDOs Saw the show at the WGI Houston Regional and wow. Would LOVE to see a marching band tackle that music and concept (which was yoga). Quote

However, the song "In the Sublime" is by The Supreme Beings of Leisure. They have a myspace, as well. Some pretty good music. Check 'em out! It was crazy. Ars Nova is pretty much based in my (ex) hs so we were around them a lot. That show was tight. Blows that they didn't make finals at WGI. Quote
