Do we know if there will be caption awards for 4A, 5A, and 6A classes respectively for prelims (like in 2023), or if it’ll just be overall caption awards for all non JV bands (like in 2024)? I would assume there will be caption awards for all 3, as there are at least 4 bands in each classification to compete for them. In this instance, Id anticipate a likely near-to-complete prelim caption sweep from Panther Creek, Emerson, and Wylie East in 4A, 5A, and 6A respectively

Agreed on the sweep, it would be interesting and make sense to see class awards as well as overall. Other comps have done captions with only 4-5 bands per class

I haven't seen anything from them yet other than photos, so I'm assuming this will be their public debut. I am very much looking forward to seeing them on Saturday (I'll be attending prelims)!

Up first is Guyer HS, coming up in a few minutes!

Very impressed with the uniformity in the sound! The backfield playing with the brass in the ballad was really good! The soloists killed it! Pines reprise at the end!!!

Up next, Anna HS!

Really nice colorguard work going on here! Lots of drill for Anna! Nice trombone solo! Great sounds from all!

Really cool opener; nice small ensemble to start, and a wall of sound! Challenging music book, and these kids are achieving it very well!

Everyone is so in tune with each other! All of the soloists did an amazing job (shoutout to the tin whistle soloist!!) Loved the ballad!

Very cool drill, connecting it with the props! Really nice sound throughout! Near little clarinet ensemble at the end!

Everyone is working hard out there! The ballad was really good! Fantastic job by the baritone/euph soloist! Someone remind me if this is the first time any of the Plano NVs have competed as a varsity band; it was a good first competitive start for Jasper!

Lots of drill (arrows galore!); connects well with the theme. They are performing a challenging show very well! The closer was really good; powerful brass at the end!!

Welcome to the marching field, Richland! Really nice sounds! As clean as can be! Fantastic job to the flute soloist!

This show is already being performed at such a high level! The trumpet soloist made that sound super professional! WALL OF SOUND!!! The drumline stood out by how clean they were!

Just gushing over this show!!! It’s so good!!!

Next up, Newman Smith HS!

Small, but clean! Just really great uniformity all around; sound, marching, etc.! Flute soloist did a really great job!

Last up, Panther Creek HS!

Packing a lot of sound! Woodwinds have so many runs, and are just making it sound so easy! Silky smooth trombone solo in the ballad; you get my approval as a trombonist!
