The McKinney Marching Invitational will be held at McKinney ISD Stadium on October 4. As of 6/18/25

Seems like North DFW will one day just be Melissa and McKinney as the non BOAs in town, at least Don Hanna is still going strong, cant say the same about Plano East though, from what I think multiple are dropping from an already tiny contest. I think don hanna will live to see past it though it is a good contest for medium sized programs.

Yup, there seems to be more and more schools starting to host their own competitions and the some schools just don't have the budget to compete in a lot of contests every year now that state is a yearly thing (smaller schools) and not to mention so many band programs that are up and down year to year. I know there were a couple of competitions last year where lots of schools dropped to go somewhere else that in their eyes was more competitive.

Yeah, it seems like it will get to the point where its just the really big and known contests remaining because of those factors. Sad to see it happen to some contests like the Plano East contest that was doing good a couple years ago to being a bit empty now, and the plenty of schools that have dropped contests in the past.
