Popular Post RyanRaider22 Posted November 2, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2025 Sooo... Anyways... Anybody know how Ryan, Anna, and Denton did? Ryan has had a record breaking season and I LOVED Anna's show/uniforms. To all the Emerson people, I know it hurts to be one spot away from making finals (I definitely know as we usually got just about dead last lol). Just know that you kids worked hard and would most likely be able to go to state if you were in just about any other area. Heck honestly every band that attended this contest today would be state bound in another area. Don't feel sad for not making finals, be happy for all the life lessons, memories, and friendships made throughout the season. Marching band is part of life. In life there's always room for growth and improvement. BassoonSOLO5456, clarinets74, Spitfire78 and 2 others 4 1
Popular Post wtxbd02 Posted November 2, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2025 Unless you were a director in the room with the judges this kind of speculation/assumptions over a pretty normal ordinal on a judging sheet is wreckless and fuels misinformation and negativity. It's clear when someone doesn't understand how the sheets work. Variance in subcaption ordinals is totally normal and a sign of healthy judging of the shows seen on the day. Nothing more or less. The percussion judge (yes there is only one percussion judge) gave Emerson a score that placed them in 4th and 5th on 2 subcaptions. On another sub caption, they received a score that placed them in 18th place. 18th place from the same judge that gave top 5 twice. In my eyes without a doubt the most likely solution is a simple tabulation error where a wrong key was entered and didn’t realize (somehow). I just don’t believe they received 18th while getting 4th and 5th from the same judge nothing about that math adds up... they got 13th in perc but 4+5+18 divided by 3 gets you 9. so something is def interesting about what's being said. clarinets74 1
clarinets74 Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 the results sheet (not the score sheet) show ridiculously varied rankings for all bands, not just emerson. in fact, emerson had pretty consistent rankings throughout. you wouldn't think walnut grove would beat wakeland in music, but music is incredibly subjective so I would try not to think about the results too hard. we don't know exactly what was going on through the judges heads, but we all know all of the kids in every band worked super hard and gave it their all today. Unfortunately the judges were swapped last minute resulting in some strange variances, more so than would have likely happened if the original judges were kept. Not saying the judges were “bad”, just having to pick a backup judge will result in less accurate results wtxbd02 and BassoonSOLO5456 2

Popular Post FootballBandMom Posted November 2, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2025 Congratulations to all bands competing today! Every single one of these bands and every single one of these kids deserved to be here and they should all be so proud! JazzRun, astronautika, SharksAreCool and 2 others 1 4
Popular Post wtxbd02 Posted November 2, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2025 So now it's because of the judging panel. Not a tabulation error. lol. Make up your mind! Or maybe it's just normal UIL Area results where a judge thought a band had a lower music ensemble achievement level for the whole band than their percussion and had good content on the same sheet. Let's move on from baseless speculation and feelings over results we didn't like trying to cause trouble. Congrats to the advancing bands and finalists, Lone Star is looking at their best ever finish at state this year. That's really exciting! OGFISD99, Band Dad 2021, RyanRaider22 and 5 others 3 4 1

ishmenthew Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 I preformed w/ liberty during prelims and we got rained on which (probably) affected our placement. do you guys know if uil or the judges have any obligations if it rains during a performance (like changing their performance time)? glyde 1
glyde Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Congratulations to all these programs!!! Emerson stuff is frustrating how they lost finals due to a mishap and i know they will be back for next year. But they had good stuff and fought through! LT congrats on state, yall deserved it that show was amazing to watch. Hope yall go nuts at finals!! Melissa wow, I was not expecting such a high placement from yall (6th). Real underdogs of this area, placing above WG and Reedy is a big win, who know what they could do. Indepenence congrats on finals!! I dont know how you got 19th in brass that doesnt seem right but great performance! Now with the rain situation, it was a slight sprinke during prelims yesterday, Liberty Emerson Melissa etc all fought throught it. If they can put on a good show in the rain then the judges know they can perform even better. All the other programs had a good show but the ones above had some thought I wanted to share. Untill next year! theloudestmello, wtxbd02 and cheesecurd21 2 1
bandperson12 Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 What's everyone's thoughts on Heritage making 7th and beating WG, Reedy, and Indy? It was definitely surprising but well deserved they really cleaned up the past 2 weeks.
band_is_better_in_TX Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 I believe the judges slept on WG and Reedy WheresMyDot, Brassmaster22 and BassoonSOLO5456 2 1
Bbas Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 saw finals, not sure how exactly melissa and heritage were above reedy and WG, and I also don't know how argyle was in 4th, their finals run was not the best. Top 3 was justified, everything else I am extremely confused by... WheresMyDot and northtexasshawty 1 1
KickSomeBrass Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 I am curious: how is the singing part for McKinney North judged? Singing is not a marching band skill and I noticed that the vocalist did not move around the field. Do they view the singing part as a "prop" of sorts or how does it work?
KickSomeBrass Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Do you all think Lone Star will ever beat Wakeland? They keep getting closer and closer... BassoonSOLO5456 1
band_is_better_in_TX Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 I thought reedy and WG was going to be at least top 6. I don't know what those judges were thinking. Maybe it was because of the shows performance timing, but other than that I am also really confused. I agree, Melissa and Heritage shouldn't be placed above those bands. WG had a great run, and so has Reedy, but those judges saw otherwise. BassoonSOLO5456 and jamminsalmon_ 1 1

Untill next year! Definitely was shocked, but happy to see Melissa make finals (alumni for the school). Watching their show throughout the season, I didn't really know where to place them, but felt it wasn't ready for a finals run at Area (thought Emerson, Liberty, or Lovejoy were going to get in). Overall, it was pretty exciting to see them make finals at Area for the first time since 2021!
Popular Post Danpod Posted November 2, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2025 Closing this topic. Claiming impropriety on the judges or the contest officials without hard and evidence is irresponsible. Every year, someone claims that they know someone who knows something. Not having it. tennertrumbow, SaxySaxer, utee94 and 6 others 5 3 1
