cheesecurd21 Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Any thoughts from Prosper prelims? I know BOA is different but if anyone saw shows live the comparison would help.

I know BOA is different but if anyone saw shows live the comparison would help. From what I saw- Wakeland- the best show overall From the group, wouldn't be surprised if they take 1st again Lone Star- Fantastic music and visuals are really cool, should place 2nd and could be fighting for 1st. Lebanon Trail- Back with a vengeance this year and I feel is going to place 3rd/4th here McKinney North- Fun show. Its played very well and they definitely have a chance at possibly fighting for that final state spot with Argyle Reedy- I was really impressed with them. I will be surprised if they don't make finals here Walnut Grove- They looked and sounded really good! Definitely a band I see making finals. Melissa- I felt they were slightly better than Liberty, but it could be the other way around. They sound great and have cool visuals, but they really need to work on spacing and alignment Liberty- I felt that they did have a better show overall compared to Melissa, but I don't know if they will make finals. Hopefully they prove me wrong! This area is definitely going to be a bloodbath after what we got at Prosper. Everyone has stepped up their game even more and should make this contest really fun to watch
cheesecurd21 Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Did anyone see any other bands (football/comps)? I’ve heard good things about Indy and Emerson

cheesecurd21 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 It looks like WG did scored higher than Reedy and even beat out LT with no GE. Has anyone seen them recently? I didn’t know if they were that good so far, but it looks like they’re doing super well FullRetreat and Miswordedstatements 1 1

I didn’t know if they were that good so far, but it looks like they’re doing super well I saw them at BOA yesterday, their music book is incredibly challenging and they scored 4th at the entire comp for individual music. With this I believe they’re left without a ceiling so we’ll get to see where they keep pushing. I do personally believe they have the hardest show besides Wakeland and Lone Star. FullRetreat 1
Popular Post Beanbag52 Posted October 12, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2025 Area B is less than 3 weeks away! Here are my picks for this comp after the huge competition in Prosper yesterday. 🥇 Lone Star* Lone Star is looking like a massive powerhouse this year, and will be a deadly contender at state. They have probably had the most improvement out of any school I’ve seen from this point last year. Jumping from 11th to 4th in Prosper is wild. Normally at BOA competitions, LS is decently far behind Wakeland, and then they get closer in UIL competitions, but they have been right there together at both this year. (Overtaking Wakeland in visual at dfw prelims and prosper finals) They always hit it hard coming into area too, and their show is already very well developed for this point in the season. It’ll be close between LS and Wakeland, but I’ll give the slight edge to Lone Star on this one. Their show has so much energy and potential to improve the next couple weeks. 🥈Wakeland* Looking and sounding phenomenal as always. I do like this show better than some of their previous years, it’s definitely something special. Wakeland is super impressive too for this point in the season. They’ve beaten powerhouse 6A schools already this season like Prosper and Coppell, and are on Marcus’ heels. I could really see this going either way. It’s incredible how much improvement we’ve seen from all the groups here. Area B is looking to turn out as a bloodbath as usual 😂 🥉Lebanon Trail* LT is NOT messing around this year. I think they have a chip on their shoulder after not making state last year, and they’re out for blood. I don’t see anyone else beating them besides Lone Star and Wakeland. They’ve even been hanging with the big dogs at BOA this year. I heard that they had never made a BOA finals before, and they showed up and dominated the bottom 6 yesterday. They’re so much cleaner right now than this time any other season beforehand, I think this show is super special. Even at state I think it’s realistic for them to get top 7-8th. (Maybe even top 6??!) 4) Argyle* I haven’t seen Argyle in a few weeks, but from what I’ve heard recently they’re on track to do very well again. I love the Mahler, and I think their show has a really cool story to tell. They’ve been getting so much better since their 4A days, and I don’t think that’s going anywhere. They’re coming off of last year’s impressive 7th place finish at state, and they’re definitely coming into Area B with some fire. Again, I could see Argyle getting top 8-9 again at state. This really shows you the incredible depth in this area. I wish we had more state spots. 5) Reedy 6) McKinney North 7) Walnut Grove 8 Independence 9) Heritage 10) Liberty (sorry not writing paragraphs for non state I gave up 😂😂) glyde, caravansolo181 and WanderingTraveler 3
cheesecurd21 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Anyone watching UIL region? I know all the bands will advance but i’m curious to hear updates on how they sound
Tubalord11 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 My guess after yesterday: 1. Wakeland 2. Lone Star (could take 1st) 3. Lebanon Trail 4. Argyle/Reedy 5. Reedy/Argyle 6. Walnut Grove 7. Mckinney North 8. Independence 9. Heritage 10. Liberty/Emerson/The Colony TC could be higher after seeing they got 4th and Birdville yesterday. Miswordedstatements and opiniondropper25 2

I agree with your list a lot, The Colony getting 4th the other day was definitely a surprise, beating out some notable programs… and looking at boa with walnut grove and liberty’s placement really is interesting to see. Even more impressive considering The Colony was a single point behind Lake Belton in prelims (scoring is similar to uil’s for the past 2 years), who’s apparently having an up year coming off of 13th at 5a state

Wakeland LS and LT are almost certainly top, WG could definitely be the fourth but also possibly Argyle/Reedy/North and really anyone else… I think bands like Indy and Heritage will surprise, but won’t exactly sweep the competition. Could do extremely well but I think bands like Colony/Liberty/Emerson are by no means out, and I think the latter three will beat Heritage Miswordedstatements 1

I doubt they Denison and Anna miss out unless they go over time but I don’t doubt they get a “dirty” 1 at region. Walnut Grove is on the rise this year but I don’t think that they are already in the talks for state. The Colony isn’t there yet either. I would say it comes down to 1. Wakeland 2. Lonestar 3. LT 4. Reedy/ Argyle 5. Argyle/ Reedy

I think reedy has a very good shot at making it this year.

They’re much more back to standard this year from what I’ve seen.

thispersonlovesheybaby Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Does anyone know what happened to Mckinney North at boa prosper? 20th place out of 23 bands doesn’t make sense to me at all since they have made a huge impact on this area for the past few years. No field timing issues either. Could it be the new director change? I was excited to see what they would bring to the table this year but definitely was not expecting this.

I just don’t think they’re as good as last year. I know it’s early season but I liked their sound much better last year and the design this year I feel doesn’t show them off enough. Still a very talented group, could also be a BOA thing.
OGFISD99 Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 I know this early to say but this could be a Frisco sweep to advance to state....
