This year sadly, we may have to expect a 3 to state situation or a god knows that very fragile 4 to state situation, or in some insanely sad case (very unlikely where Area C could look COMPLETELY different)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Mesquite HS is dropping down to 5A also.

Snapshot day is when schools send UIL their numbers, and then they are publicly released in early December, so we won't know until then.

If this happens, what a blow to this area. Rowlett has been declining in enrollment, so I would say them for certain, but I don't think Garland will move down - their enrollment increased from the 2022 realignment to the 2024 realignment.

It would certainly help Rowlett out, they would immediately become a contender to make 5A state in my book.

I've heard whispers that Royse City might also drop to 5A

how do we feel about dville's score? Its crazy how they dropped from 7th to 9th in finals

I mean, I also have the Wylie schools joining to help create four spots... but this realignment can truly make or break Area C.

Seems to be a running theme, I know John Horn is the same, half the band is freshmen.

Mesquite has 5 high schools , 3 are already 5A, Mesquite would be the closest to bumping down to 5A as they are less than 200 students shy of the enrollment requirement. John Horn is close to 3,000 students so it’s definitely not them. 
On the other hand North Mesquite is 100 students shy of meeting 6A requirements. 
West Mesquite less than 200. 
I’d rather have those 2 schools come to 6A if we’re gonna lose garland and rowlett.

The judges had them all over the place. Honestly seeing their scores made me question these judges.

as much as i want them to stay in J, they'd be pretty good candidates to replace Rowlett and Garland in 6A because they're in the same football district as Sachse and North Garland.

Typically you should see judges scores close to each other or maybe 2-3 off but when you see 1 judge way off everyone else it makes you question what they were seeing. Of course not all judges can be the same there are some good judges out there and some that have differences in what they like and don't like.

They are all judging different things though so you might see them off. There's a woodwind, brass and percussion judge along with a individual marching and group marching judge.

true but lots of times. all three sections play into each other if a band is really good they should score high across the board. Typically at state a top level band is not going to score a 1,1,9 you probably see more of like a 1,2,3 in some order.

i think music 1 was woodwinds and music 2 was brass, and if that’s true it makes since considering at birdville duncanvilles brass got 3rd behind keller, and sachse, whilst their woodwinds got 11th…

That is true, but the ww and brass judges switch in finals, so still inconsistent.
