i agree with this. Dville just doesn't seem like they can do higher than 6th this year

So true, especially with the new scoring rubric with each group being 20% of the score and visual being 40%. I think in the future we are going to see higher and higher visual shows for the sacrifice of maybe a woodwind run or brass feature.

Anyone have thoughts about potentially seeing Area C and Area J merge/trade schools when they reorganize areas?

When is that happening? They just changed them in 2024. Area C and J use to be filled locked down by Lewisville I believe. Please give other schools a chance TT 😞

It'd be cool to finally be in an area with bands actually near RISD, they were once with Hebron back in the late 2010's if I remember right.  But it also may cause them to lose a chance at state, depending on who else could end up there with them and LISD. I could also see depending on it we could see the other prosper and plano schools actually have a fair chance at state, seeing as Area J currently is kinda cramped with every finals school being good enough to make state in another area

Maybe see the Wylie schools get mixed around

I'm still confused on why Richardson ISD is with Waxahachie instead of the Plano schools it makes no sense

It's the government man lol. In all seriousness through its based off what will sell the most tickets ngl. It's just like football. It's the same reason you don't have Ducanville play against Allen in early season. It's so those top schools will make it further so people will want to watch more.

All speculation but maybe

Absolutely no one expected them to win and beat Wax last season, either. I love your confidence and conviction, and while Sachse may not be on the same level as they were last year (and Wax is arguably better, conversely), it isn’t wise to discount ANY program here. We know from experience that anything can happen.

A LOT of bands are having a much better season this year compared to last year (excluding Dville)

If you took Sachse's Area finals run from last year and put it up against the shows and bands from this year how would it realistically hold up?

In my opinion there run from last year is about where rockwall is this year. I also really loved that show with Bon Jovi music and Mandalorian theme song. I might have a little bias when it comes to my love for that show just because I have to be the number 1 Bon Jovi glazer on these forums.

but I would love to hear anyone's reasoning about why i might be wrong

Mainly because of show design/UIL Rubric is going for. Rockwall & Heath IMO don’t have enough simultaneous demand and the choreography in general isn’t very challenging. They’re producing what they have well but it’s close enough to sachse and Forney to possibly warrant being lower because of design.

What's your top 10 predictions? I watched dvilles show last week and I'm not sure if they can finish top 5. They are a historically great program though so I wouldn't be too surprised if they do better than I'm anticipating.

Idk that I can give a full 10 because most of these shows I’ve only seen live once. But for the ones that I have

I think the undisputed #1 is Waxahachie that’s a no brainer. You want an amazing clean sound, with amazing drill and visuals that’s Waxahachie. And I believe that’s with a new director too so that’s actually really amazing. I can see them making state finals (Saw them live twice)

#2. Forney, big band, great sound, judges love them lol

#3. Sachse. Even though their show to me was 🫤 I can’t deny that they looked and sounded good. Their drill is what stood out to me the most, I liked it better than the music. Last years show was  amazing so I guess TO ME the whole retro theme was a bit underwhelming. BUT I bet the judges will love it because again sound quality is amazing!

#4. One of the Rockwalls, probably the orange one. Only seen them once but based off of their competition results, they’re the better one of the two as they bested Heath in those competitions but not by much. So a not so good run by them and a better run by Heath could put them in 5th

#5. Heath, they’ve tailed the orange band all season, will they finally make the push to put them ahead? We will soon find out.

#6. Duncanville,  I’ll get to see them live on Friday 2nd time (weather permitting). Something tells me they’re not going to go away quietly. I could see them making the jump. Honestly I think it needs to happen for the sake of their program. Is that the pressure that’s just too much for them? Is it what is distracting them? new director, high expectations, a district looking to appease the crowds, lots of drama there. Theyre picking the absolute worst time to have an “off” year.

#7-10 I’ve only seen Berkner once and that was early September, haven’t seen Richardson or JJ Pearce but it sounds like they’re top 10 finishers based off of the forums. Big time sleepers for the 10th would be John Horn a run like they had at the Midlothian finals and theyre in. North Garland possible?.  North Forney cool snake, do they belong higher on the list? Probably, they were grand champs at royse city after all but I haven’t seen enough of them to justify where to place them, what’s Rowlett been up to? Maybe a Royse City? The bottom half of the 10 to me could be anyone.

Waxahachie does have a new head director. Mr. Bell was promoted from assistant director at WHS.
