Of the four bands above I only saw JV and Ranch. In my opinion Ranch had a stronger performance. Ranch seems very competitive.

My only concern for cinco ranch is the visual, that REALLY shows up from the press box at the berry center, here are my final predictions for area.

1. Cy-Woods(bold but I think there’s a chance, with area judges are more concerned with how cleanly one can perform usually, at state difficulty also comes into factor, go bears! Really enjoyed this show yesterday, the crowd LOVED it)

2. Bridgeland(I just think they need to clean up some things visually/musically, other than that very solid, and I will look forward to their show at GRAND NATS!!! Go wildcats! Enjoyed this show yesterday!)

3. Cy-Fair( cool show, most likely very clean right now, should look good, really enjoy the paper cranes!!! Go mustangs! Enjoyed this show yesterday)

4. Jordan(I think this show is a show headed to San Antonio this Saturday, love this group and their improvement man. Go rams!!) 

5. Cinco Ranch(I think this show has great visual continuity, with the lemons, the impact moments are fairly clean and can be really effective with these judges, it’s just the cleanliness of the visual that bothers me a lot,  could switch with seven lakes but I would love to see them get to state after what happened in 21’, go panthers! 
 

6. Seven lakes( great show, just a step down from last year IMO, state is possible but the energy isn’t as “high” although I will say it’s SOLID, it’s a neat show overall, go cougars!)

 

7. JET( GREAT show, love the colors man lol, this could be a dark horse for state, really clean musically man, love the clarity and finesse, judges should score this well hopefully, go tigers!)

 

8. Tompkins( that opening hit is amazing, but the rest of the show doesn’t have the glimmer and shine that the opening does, but it’s nice nonetheless, overall I think it’s a step down from last year but that’s okay, I could see this switching with Cy-Ranch or Katy, go cubs!)

9. Cy-Ranch( I enjoyed this show yesterday, cool effective things going on generally, a possible dark horse with lots of potential, just needs to clean some things overall, go Spartans!)

10. Katy(I enjoy this show, nice show overall, I do understand freeman took some students from Katy so band size may have decreased just a bit, but overall it’s nice show, I really like the closer, could see langham creek switching out with Katy depending on how Saturday goes)

11. Langham Creek(it’s a nice show, things to clean of course but it’s definitely a dark horse to push into finals, wouldn’t be surprised to see them advance to area finals, I just think they need to have some more glimmer/shine in their shows to really make a huge statement to judges, go eagles)

13. JV(cool show, seems like they are taking it back a bit and just “laying low” for a bit, go cougars!)

This is the second time I’ve heard someone say difficulty plays a minimal role at area. Don’t they use the same scoresheets at area and state?

I just got notification from my daughters band director they are using a bottom 5/top 5 finals format and so the finals draw is not necessarily accurate.

It will be accurate within the top 5/bottom 5 split.
