My band doesn't give as much power to the drum majors as most bands do. Our drum majors conduct, and that's about all. They don't lead much of anything. Section leaders get to do pretty much whatever they need to with their sections. We get to do sectionals and stuff like that. AND you get to march and do crazy stuff in the stands. case and point, SL is better =)

not exactly dirty, but our section was going to make shirts with the slogan "blow it out your brass" ... our director didn't like that too much though =p

Well one of our problems is that, even though we did fundamentals every single day, our directors never told us what to look for OR what to get out of them. So basically, it was like everyone was just wasting 15 minutes of their time every morning.

Lol, I'm a trumpet player, and I could hold a baritone up longer than any of the people we had on bari this year don't say we're weak *this guy doesn't have anything in his eye, he really is winking*

About the whole woodwinds thing... At the level that DCI brass players are at, it would probably take about 5-10 top flute/clarinet players to produce the sound of one trumpet/soprano. That's probably why woodwinds aren't in DCI.

I just watched a few shows, like Reagan 2005 and the "show of the week" show from LD Bell, and I'm wondering how they get their lines so straight. I swear to god, we have people 2.5 yards away from where they're supposed to be... so when everyone else is on a yardline, and you're in between two lines... it's kinda obvious... ... away from the rambling, what do you guys do to help keep lines straight?

Personally, I've never seen the show. But a friend of mine used that phrase for about 2 months before he finally switched over to the whole "dracula called" thing from Aqua Teen. I think the dracula thing is a bit better =p

the second half of my freshman year show. Bohemian Rhapsody was a totally awesome song by Queen. Look it up on limewire or something, it's worth listening to, even if it is over 5 minutes long...
