  1. I'm really intrigued by a lot of the repetoire and show themes that I'm seeing. I think it will be, at the very least, an intresting year. I'm so ready for summer to get here!
  2. Hey, but Floyd Casey has turf now, so no holes! We actually have brand new turf, again, so it's great for marching. I understand the reasons for having the contest in the dome, and there are some excellent ones, but I personally think that it should be outside. There's just something about marching under the lights at finals- and outside you don't have the annoying reverb that you basically have to write around if you want to have your music heard in the 'Dome.
  3. 1) Former student, future band director 2) Forums, liveblog (I've been here longer than I seem. I can't remember my old (2008) username/password) 3)A YouTube channel would be great! 4) Don't know 5) Don't know 6) I will and I have!
  4. @rcb05 Do you think that the visual scores might have been impacted by props, either way?
  5. @dtexas4444 (my computer doesn't like the reply boxes) You're right, I had completely forgottn about caption scoring. Whoops!
  6. In that same vein, Duncanville's scores were 3- 4- 6-14 -8 for a total of 35 (5th). A very interesting spread- odd to see numbers like 3 and 14 and 3 and 17 (in Coppell's case) for the same group. I'm curious to see what would have happened with Olympic (throw out lowest and highest) style judging. Overall, a great group for finals, and I wish I could be in San Antonio watching all of them!
  7. There were some interesting point spreads in there. Of course, it's a totally new panel of judges at Finals, so we'll just to wait (anxiously) and see.
  8. Me too, honestly. If they do, good for them! I was honestly surprised, though pleasantly so, to see them on the state list for this year.
  9. When it comes down to it, I think Duncanville will beat Coppell in music, based on both of their performances at UIL Region (I wasn't able to be at Area). Both groups have difficult music, but I think (and this is me talking as an education student, not a Duncanville grad) Duncanville is simply executing it better. But being inside that dome changes everything. We'll just have to see!
  10. Based on what I've seen and heard, I personally have the order down as 1) Marcus 2) Duncanville 3) LD Bell 4) Hebron 5)Coppell 6)Berkner 7)Bowie 8)Rowlett 9) The Woodlands 10) Spring But...I always could be wrong! (Duncanville could win...Hey, I can hope!
  11. There's some interesting groupings that I see- a slight disadvantage for Coppell, having to perform right after Marcus, and the same for Berkner, performing right after L.D. Bell. It'll be interesting!
  12. Mine would have to be 2006 Cavaliers- "Machine", 2008 Phantom Regiment "Sparticus", and yes, I'm a little biased, but 2008 Duncanville High School. The 2010 Duncanville show is quickly climbing the ranks, too- it gets better every time I see it.
