Community is BOOMING right now, you see the growth happening in Josephine and Lavon right now? It's gonna be the next Frisco or Paloma Creek in a couple years. I hope that they can have a good year in 4A, soon they will probably be 5A with the quick growth happening. Maybe even 6A in a couple realignments like how Prosper and Princeton did.

2026-2027 UIL Realignment
dfwhorn replied to dfwhorn's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I agree on your take on 7A. It wont happen this alignment most likely, but I'm certain it will happen at one point or another (probably like 2032 or 2034 if I were to guess) because of the growth happening in places around the state. But right now it will definitely be a logistical issue for some schools in the state for travel times and costs for having to travel hours for a game or tournament. Makes me wonder if it could put some events like academics and your "meet" based sports (golf, etc) at stake for those lesser off 7A programs. I remember always hating having to travel even like an hour for a game, I couldn't imagine how it would be for those West Texas schools that have to travel multiple hours every other friday night. I think it will one day be inevitable for TX to have a 7A but for now I think having 6 would be the best off scenario for most programs in the 2020s. -
2026-2027 UIL Realignment

The idea of 6A D3 could be interesting but I'm a little curious on how it would effect sports classifications, especially in sports like football that heavily utilize D1/D2 already. The main thing I would be wondering is the amount of districts. 8 seems like too little and 16 too much so it could be a topic of discussion. I think that the cuttoffs would probably be around 2300-2700 for D3, 2700-3000 for D2 and 3000 up for D1 of course depending on how different schools grow or shrink if we are equally dividing 6A without adding or removing anyone from 5A to 6A or vice versa. If I have the time I might make a map of how that would look like with alignments with the current 6A as we have it. -

Heres what I got for this contest 1. Wylie East 2. Emerson 3. Panther Creek 4. Richardson 5. Plano West 6. Guyer 7. Newman Smith As much as I love Guyer's program I think as long as Plano West has a solid show they could be a solid sneak through for this show. Definetly swappable between the two though. Everything else is set in stone pretty much though. Wylie East will probably win most captions but give Emerson guard and PC Visual possibly (i think they'll clean up early like they did at this contest as the reigning champions) It's a bit of a shame that we wont have our other top 3 people at this contest this year from 2024, it could've been really competitive to watch them all battle it out, but seeing Weast and Emerson and PC will be fun to watch. Hope to hear some more from this contest in hopes that more people attend it. Do you guys think it will have a finals round or prelims only? Keep in mind last year was 9 prelims and 8 sent to finals (Everyone except Lake Highlands, who had their homecoming that night I think). But with 7 people, it makes me wonder if there's even enough to justify finals. Maybe top 5. I know they have all the Plano JVs coming, but it wouldn't make much sense to merge them since they are Non-varsity programs.

A bit of both almost I think. Very similar to a lot of local contests with the 100 point score, and I believe their judges base it on Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, Aux, Visual, and Music i believe. The scores are on Last Year's forum of DHM if you need a bit of a reference, but nobody ever posted the detailed recaps. Scores are on that forum though

I agree on Lake Highlands being one of those schools that could sneak higher than they can. I remember seeing a clip of them early last year like September and I was impressed even then. Really wish I saw their show in person. I agree with Royse City too, they are one of those schools that I think anyone would love to make finals, would be really cool to see. For duncanville, I think they'll probably do fine but other schools can definitely take advantage (Berkner or Rockwall or maybe LH). I think Sachse will stay put at 1st though, the first time I heard their show last year I was in awe the whole time.

Probably like 20 more staff changes.... jk lol Heres my top 10 for now 1. Sachse 2. Wax 3. Dville 4. Berkner 5. Forney 6. Rockwall 7. J.J Pearce 8. Lake Highlands 9. Rockwall Heath 10. Rowlett I know Sachse has a large director change, but I have no doubt that they will have a good season still. As long as they can take what they learnt last year from one of my favorite Sachse shows if not 2024 shows, they will have another state year. I think that Berkner could have a good enough show to make state again and sneak in the Top 4. If they can match something similar to that 2023 show I'd love to see it. I think Rowlett could be a hidden gem this year, not sure what it is but I have a feeling they could be a sleeper this year, so keep an eye out for them. Richardson and Royse are also good picks for finals as well, excited to see how this area turns out.
