Reading through this discussion, I am seeing Aubrey majorly get ignored after placing above Alvarado & Castleberry at area, and being the only 4A state qualifier on this list...Am I missing something?

Fair point, I just think that since the objectives of high school and college are so drastically different, it’s hard to compare.

I second the Wakeland opener hype, very excited to see this show in person.

Excited to hopefully catch this competition for this match up, but I might be going to Melissa so will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Just from my college experience, I feel like there was not many shows that would've had a positive GE score so it's not really easy to say. Plus, when you have music majors on 1st parts, and the just-for-fun folk just sorta chilling, balance is all over the place. Just my experience.

With Brandies being added here, I have a feeling they will take this competition.

Was unable to catch this competition, didn't know Boyd wasn't marching tenors this year!

Can an Admin clarify how scoring will work regarding BOA North Houston if The Woodlands doesn't participate in finals? Should we leave them out of the predictions list outright, or will the prelims score be taken?

Any update on The Woodlands here?

I completely did not see this before posting, but my thoughts exactly.

This is something I have sort of noticed being talked about quite a lot, regarding McKinney North. A lot of comments mentioning them having “another jazz show” really means nothing year to year when shows are scored in isolation to their predecessors. Judges probably are not in-tune with shows year to year, and they are more likely to judge shows in a black box format. If they perform the show well, they will do well, and vise versa. I can see from an enjoyment perspective why the jazz theme could get stale after a while, but so does hearing Dies Irae in marching shows. I would be more interested to know if the students that have been in the program for a while still enjoy this style of show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Reserving myself from making a full prediction list here, but few things I am excited to see from this competition. 1. This will give us an early season indicator to Area B: I think Wakeland and Lone Star are “locks” in that area so this will give us a head to head to head insight to the main contenders for the (pending) 2 remaining spots for state. Argyle vs MN vs LT. 2. Wondering how the 4A powerhouse Celina can fit in with this slate of bands. I am expecting 9-10th. 3. This is the first non-BOA competition that the McKinney schools (minus Boyd) have competed in side-by-side in a few years (I think). Excited to see how this shakes out in a non-exhibition format. 4. From most posts, I see the top-10ish to be around the same, excited to see which bubble bands make it into finals!

Also, love the early season competitions that all bands make finals. Getting reps in will be super important, since most of these bands are typical state qualifiers.
