I’ve seen the following from just snooping around and these are my thoughts: Pine Tree: They decided to do a way harder show this year.. their woodwinds are really solid but not so much brass. Pretty messy visually even for September but their music selections are awesome Sulphur Springs: Great music selections; but oh my god please stop parking and barking.. There might be less than 30 seconds where they’re marching and playing at the same time They sound really good for this early in the season but the drill has lots of holes North Lamar: They started about the same as they always do, maybe a bit stronger this year Not entirely sure about the music selection as I’ve only seen the first act. They sound solid and i’m sure they’ll do how they always do

Kaufman is off to a GREAT start this year.. wouldn't be surprised if they make state in 5A area c.. I would almost reckon the kids are excited about moving up considering how competitive area C 4a is!

It would make sense for bigger programs, for ATSSB bands that have under 100 students marching, they can't really do that considering the size of the bands and how detrimental a hole would be

Really don't think that anna will push through to finals.. they had a really sloppy first act of what they do have on the field at the moment Melissa consistently being a finalist in 4a state finals and then going to 5A with a show that was way more advanced than anything they'd played and still not make finals.. I just don't think it'd happen I do think that Melissa will push through though

Very curious about the small school division on this - last year there was a correction between NL and Canton where they revoked Canton's finals spot due to some judge error Some of the judging was pretty inconsistent as well in the small school division especially between finals with Celina dropping last year.. there were schools with ranging from 5th to 23rd in the same category.. makes no sense Hopefully it'll be a bit more consistent this year.. After watching a few halftime shows from the football games this is what I've gathered: Sulphur Springs - Parking and Barking the ENTIRE show.. really nice ballad but anytime the brass is playing they are just doing visuals and vice versa with the woodwinds China Spring - About the same as they start every year, they seemed to do a bit of an easier show this year than last which will probably be good for them (They didn't have enough time to get clean at state) North Lamar - Again, about the same as every year.. so far I don't like their music selection it seems like a march. Maybe it'll progress throughout the season Community - They're off to a strong start but pretty messy visually (obviously its only the first football game, so I'm sure it'll clean up) They're in a tough position being in Area C but maybe they'll push through to state Haven't seen but am looking for - Celina, Canton (I hear a lot of talk about how Canton is falling off, I can't imagine a world in 4A where there isn't Canton somewhere in the talk. Every bad year they have they always bounce back from it.. I'm sure the kids are motivated)
