1. Alexander 2. Hanna 3. Edinburgh Placements of Area G bands at state. Pretty much the exact same results as area! Was a really fun year and I can’t wait to see what next year brings! Re-allignment is gonna change a ton of things up, but I’m hoping it’ll bring good change! So so proud of Hanna this year (even if I was attacked online by some of their members…) and hope to see them dominate 5a if they switch!

I’m glad that you supported Hanna throughout the year! They really did have a great comeback! I think Weslaco and Edinburgh tied, I thought there was a way for both to make it? Not sure but hmm. I really wanted them to make it. Proud of all the bands that made it, I can not be more proud as an Alumni!!!!

I'd like to change my rankings after watching these bands a bit more closely. 1. Laredo Alexander 2. Laredo United 3. Los Fresnos ------- 4. Weslaco 5. Harlingen 6. Hanna 7. Edinburgh ------- 8. PSJA 9. Edinburgh North I feel that Weslaco and Harlingen could easily take that 3rd spot but who knows, up to the judges! Lets remember that whatever the judges give is completely up to their opinion and it's very subjective rather than objective. All of these bands put in crazy hard work this year to get to this point and I feel as if any one can shock the world! Good luck to every band tomorrow!!

Yep. It's gonna be a ridiculously competitive area competition. Do you think we will get 1 set of top 3 in prelims that will completely change at finals? Similar to Bluecoats and Boston rivalry this past year?

I’d argue that some experienced bands (don’t wanna say anything) are having issues this year and haven’t been having the best runs and the pigskin run reflected that. I will say that I feel some placement will happen that will shock everyone this year because of this. I’m hoping nobody has bad runs in this current field of play because of the situation of bands.

I will say Los Fresnos going traditional with that show feels so refreshing to me. It’s such a good show with good design and amazing brass sounds. I love it so much and hope that they can make it to the dome. I will say, again, Edinburg/North are still really good this year and it’s really a shame that they might not make finals because of how good they are. If there’s a tie for 7th do both schools make finals or is there a judge tiebreaker rule?

I could see this happening. It’s so crazy this year that Edinburgh is left off this list and they are still an amazing band this year. I wish they took 8 to finals! way too competitive, but I like how it’s benefitting the valley.

I really liked Rivera’s show this year. Hoping they can make a good run. How many do they take to state this year?

I’d say right now (I’ll change up my rankings) 1. Alexander 2. Laredo United 3. Los Fresnos 4. Weslaco 5. Hanna 6. Harlingen 7. PSJA this year is as chaotic as ever for that last finals spot !!! I don’t think I’ve ever had a year this crazy competitive for finals in a while!

Only problem is why Weslaco is that low on the list! Just curious to know what your reasoning is behind that pick

It’s truly such a crazy year 5A and 6A that it’s so hard to keep up with all the insane stuff happening. I wouldn’t even count out a band sneaking in from behind and being a crazy underdog taking the final spot

I’d say mine are pretty shaken up rn. I’d have to go with 1. Alexander 2. United 3. Weslaco 4. PSJA 5. Los Fresnos 6. Hanna 7. Harlingen 8. Edinburgh it’s just so hard to pick where to put these bands cause every single one of them is SO good this year 😕 I wish there was a way they took more to finals but I like seeing the competitiveness grow in the area!

I agree, dk what he is talking about. Think he’s a Hanna hater. On another note… Good luck everyone, again! This marching season is almost over, enjoy these competitions while you can! I hope everyone can make fun memories and perform to their fullest! Marching season is one of the greatest things to exist that really only is with us for 3 months of the year. Hope everyone has an AMAZING run and shocks the crowd!! (ps. Go Hanna!)

Call me crazy, come back to this… Hanna top 3 city of palms… maybe even win. I may be biased as a Hanna Alum BUT just you all wait! There’s a reason they always called Hanna “late peakers”! Wow, so much emotion! Now I don’t think they’ll be area champs, but state?

I thought I said this but I guess my internet didn’t go through, but I agree with these. I will say if Hanna makes some jumps at this comp they will be a scary force later on at area 👀. I wholeheartedly believe that last week (and the performances before) were just really bad runs and isn’t a good definition of who they are. They peak late yes, but I feel like once they have a good performance and lock in, it’s gonna be scary to perform against them!

I hope Hanna doesn’t get 7th, going to see them at pigskin to get a better opinion on them. I’ve only seen them at away games this year and am hoping to see them from the home side!

Can’t spoil too much, but I will say that while the props are pretty basic this year (but still cool), there’s other things that will be added that’ll bring the show at least a little more together in my opinion! Never count them out, never! and I’d agree with your prediction but where is Weslaco !! lol
