La Grange, Band Director here. We stayed at a hotel close by, and our kids still had to wake up at 5 AM. It’s tough to go early! Our run had some hiccups that we haven’t had in a week or two, which was unfortunate, but overall that was still the best our band has ever been. Super proud of the kids! Best of luck to everybody today!

We bumped La Grange’s content up this year. And rehearsals have been going really well. They should look and sound more like they belong at State this year. 😉 But I appreciate whoever said it was their favorite show. This year’s show is also a lot of fun. It will definitely be a great contest all around. Happy State week and best of luck to everyone!

Area is 3 music judges, 2 visual. Legacy Ranch sounds like they’re on the come up, and they were shockingly good last year. But musical content and achievement are 20% more weighted than visual. Is the difficulty of their music and achievement of it on par with the other shows? For example, if Gatesville’s music was tougher, maybe it was dirtier and they lost points on achievement. But harder books keep cleaning after others have topped out. Like harder music had a higher ceiling. Do they have the players with just a couple of years in to do what the other established bands are doing?

La Grange could surprise people this year. They had some things to tidy up but gave an excellent performance at Region. They've been making jumps the last couple of years and had a strong run this contest season. I've heard a few people pin them for Finals and a couple say State is possible. Taylor was pretty close as well. Hoping to see Region 18 in the Finals/State!
