  1. WTF Lone Star 😭 sounding like a full 6A out here! That last set absolutely blew me away, almost flawless and so powerful. The flags and rotating pods throughout the show really made the visuals pop, and the tuba feature was just epic, especially with the battery pulling back at the perfect moment. The ballad had such beautiful moments, the flute solo was stunning, and the brass partner work added so much emotion and depth. Soloists over the ensemble sounded incredible, especially during those moments where they played toward each other so thematic. The opening brass hit was massive and clean, just one huge wall of sound without ever being over the top. Muted trumpet had such a smooth tone, and the mellos were locked in all the way. Woodwinds were crystal clear, and I loved the small callbacks and textures that added so much personality to the show. Small spacing things here and there, but nothing that even comes close to taking away from what was easily one of their strongest runs this season. Lone Star is seriously next level this year!
  2. My percussion buddy to my right said it was actually a tear, battery and low brass got off for a second during that part. It wasn't bad I just didn’t notice it. It was a great show def top 3 hopefully will see them in finals tn! 🤞
  3. I haven’t been on here in a minute, but I just have to talk about Wakeland 😭 that show was unreal. From the very start, they had everyone locked in. the brass sounded huge, mellos were killing it, and the woodwinds were so clean. The visuals looked super locked in too, everything just flowed really well. There was this moment in part 4 where I couldn’t tell if it was an echo or part of the sound design, but either way it added such a cool effect. The ballad was beautiful, and that last hit… wow. Just pure power and emotion. Every year they find a way to top themselves, but this one might honestly be my favorite yet. Great job, Wakeland 👏
  4. Nothing against bentonville but if they decided not to show up wakeland would have taken home the competition.
  5. Walnut Grove is a 5A high-school that will make them 3A here.
  6. My predictions for tonight is 1. Wakeland/Marcus 2. Marcus/Wakeland 3. Lone Star/LDBell 4. LDBell/Lonestar of course if they make finals. Wakeland could definitely take the visual caption. Marcus will take the other 2.
  7. I feel like wakeland is going to take home class 3A champions. What makes you think lonestar is going to take it home no pun intended.
  8. Wakeland outstanding recovery. I think that recovery is something to talk about y’all, did you see that?
  9. But basically it’s asking if there is a design to the show, and Wakeland has a really good design.
  10. Here are my top 3 predictions: 1. Rouse 2. Wakeland 3. Cedar Park Let me explain why I think Wakeland has a good chance. They lost to Leander by a point in the finals at the super regional, but GE killed Wakeland, and there is no GE. Also, I just like Wakeland's show a lot more than theirs. The tuba solo and trombone solo are cool, but their show just doesn't meet the expectations of that show!
  11. This can all change with the same judges in finals and no different judges throughout the day!
  12. I agree with the fact that many band parents fuel the conflicts between bands, especially online. I'm just surprised someone had the audacity to post about it here.
  13. I didn’t get to watch it, but I heard a lot of good competition is coming from there.
  14. Also, Lonestars Show is very mediocre this year. Their music is good, but their drill needs improvement. Additionally, their drill doesn't compare to some of the bands ahead of them. Personally, I preferred last year's show.
  15. I agree with these placements. Rouse, Cedar Park, and Wakeland have truly left a mark this season. Rouse, sitting at the top, brings a show with some seriously challenging drill work. Their commitment to precision and musicality is evident, but the intricate drill formations mean that one small misstep could lead to a domino effect in certain sets. It's like watching a 5A drum corps take on a marching band performance, and it's fascinating to see their level of discipline and skill. Cedar Park, in the second spot, offers a show that's simply stellar. Their performance is a testament to their exceptional skill and artistry. They perform with a precision and coordination that rivals the best drum corps. Their show's musicality, combined with complex drill work, creates a mesmerizing experience for the audience. Wakeland, in the third position, is a musical powerhouse. Their incredible musicality is beautifully complemented by intricate drill formations, which are not only complex but also visually stunning. It's almost as if they've taken a page from the drum corps book with their precision and the seamless integration of music and movement. The "Finals Bubble" adds an exciting twist to the competition, with Lebanon Trail, Richland, Foster, and Lake Benton all vying for a spot in the finals. These bands bring their unique strengths and creativity to the table, making the finals a tantalizing spectacle of talent.
  16. Heres the link to scores https://www.smbc.uiltexas.org/area/results/files/area-23_5A Area B.pdf Here's my rundown. Wakeland did a fantastic job as they won all 1s and beat Lonestar by 6 points in finals. Wakeland always seems to perform much better during finals, which is amazing. If only they could perform like that during prelims. But I have to admit, Wakeland's show is designed for BOA, which is much better than most shows. On the other hand, if Lonestar had a BOA designed show, they would also be really good. Just imagine if Wakeland and Lonestar combined their talents, it would be a powerhouse! Great job to all the other bands! Wakeland's performance was better than BOA Proser Finals.
  17. LT!! Wow!! Absolutely chilling!! Love the ice theme ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ But don't worry, I'll bring my own hot cocoa!
  18. If this is a prediction for final placement, I really think Wakeland is getting first. They had a really bad run compared to BOA Prosper. I hope they will lock in tonight!
  19. The stadium is super foggy. Hopefully, it clears up before the first performance, or it could be bad for them. (The internet over here is terrible, so I will only comment on important things.)
