  1. While I do get your point and applaud you for taking the high road, perhaps if you did name them, it would embarass them AND their directors into not letting it happen again.
  2. Were the ones doing the taunting headed to state and just ranked lower at area, or were they just extremely rude in their sour grapes that they did not make it? Shame on the directors and students in either case. This is NOT what band competitions are all about!
  3. karen - I saw Cy-Falls on Saturday at finals. Their show was good and they have the usual really good props. I was surprised, that during the first half of the show they only marched on 1/2 of the field. Their props were lined up right down the middle of the field and they only marched on the home side. Isn't there a rule about using the whole field?
  4. The schedule is up for state: http://www.uiltexas.org/files/music/2010_5ASchedule.pdf
  5. Ok all, the results are posted: http://uilforms.com/regions/23/AREA%20MARC...nals%202010.pdf I find all the Langham Creek bashing interesting since they came in 2nd and 3 judges placed them first
  6. OK - I'll ask again....does anyone know what the final rankings were?
  7. Wow, Morgan. You give a beautiful, moving account of your band's success yesterday and then ruin it with that very tacky comment. You really had the spirit of what this competition is supposed to be about in your story. What you don't understand is what the judges are looking for vs what the audience sees. Therefore, it is unsportsmanlike and totally out of line to make or agree with comments like you did. You totally negated the beauty of your heartfelt posting.
  8. ok..........this is getting really old and boring............why don't you guys have a private argument elsewhere??? please??????????
  9. Could someone please clarify? We weren't able to stay for finals. Did Cedar Park members actually fall down during their program and they still came in third?????
  10. It was apparently Westside that did not turn in their paperwork, so they were not even at Area. If they had been, 20 bands would have participated and 4 could have gone to state. Taylor was great. What is really unbelievable is that they came in dead last in the finals. Finals results were: Langham Creek Clements Cypress Falls Cypress Woods Cy-Fair Dulles Taylor Full results for prelims and finals are posted at: http://www.uilforms.com/regions/23/AREA%20...sults-AreaE.xls
  11. Anyone know what happened to Katy Taylor? I thought their show was awesome and can't believe they weren't in the top 3
  12. Area E Finals - 19 bands in prelims, 7 in finals, 3 to state Qualifying for state: Langham Creek, Cypress Falls, Clements
  13. Area E Results - 19 in prelims, 7 in finals, 3 to state Langham Creek, Cypress Falls, Clements to state Langham was first, not sure about second and third
  14. Region 23 - qualifying for Area E on 10/21 - Cinco Ranch Katy Taylor Mayde Creek Morton Ranch Houston Westside Seven Lakes If Stephen F. Austin does not attend, that puts 20 at Area E - 4 to state
  15. Wow - is that true about Stephen F. Austin? Why would they pass on state? They always seem to qualify
  16. Region 27 5A qualifying for Area E today: Cypress Falls Cypress Woods Cy-Fair Cypress Ridge Langham Creek Jersey Village Stratford Cypress Creek
  17. Langham Creek was unable to stay for finals due to a football game. They reported this ahead of time, so were not considered for finals. They will have only a score. Should be able to see where they would have placed when prelim scores are posted. They are only allowed to miss one game per football season. They are going to San Antonio and will miss a game then, so they had to be there tonight.
  18. Sorry - I missed that access code thing on the order form. I think each area did their own thing about taping. I would check on the website of the region that hosted your area, maybe you can find out there.
  19. Yes - Vestige Video from Baton Rouge has DVDs of the contest. For some strange reason, they don't seem to have a website, so you have to call them - 800-379-7505. You can get a single band for $35, finals for either 3A or 5A for $45 (both 3A and 5A for $70), all of 3A or 5A for $90, or the whole contest, both classes for $160. There is a $5 shipping charge.
