Can someone give a good report. On Rockwall. We were not able to make it to Bedford for prelims!

Who’s the school that nobody is talking about now but might be tonight? I’m going with Rockwall (clearly bias, I get). This competition is STACKED just like our Area but one great show from sneaking into finals. May not happen this week but don’t be shocked. Heard it here first!

Can’t wait to see all the shows rolling out. Especially the Orange Wave Band from JFND!

5 of 6 state spots coming from block 2 of finals is interesting (granted, the big 3 were there). The finals were definitely loaded. Looking at prelim scores is always interesting to see the discrepancy of how different judges see ands different ways. Proud of how far OWB bent with a generally young band. Would love to see their numbers grow the next two years and see where things for in 2024. Good luck to the 6 moving on.

They are predicting 1-2 inches of rain for the DFW area Friday morning-Saturday morning. Could make for a damp Saturday. Have to make every performance count.

We all know this Region is stacked....lets give some props to maybe bands in finals that don't get recognized as much as the "Big 3" or the likely "finals" bands. Who's shows have you enjoyed? I have seen John Horn 4-5 times now and really like their concept. I feel like they get better each time. Garland's lighthouse is pretty cool as well....neat effect.

72 hours away.....to think it all comes down to one best effort to make the Finals.....then you give it your all knowing only 1/2 of those bands that make finals will go to state. When would you want your band to perform during prelims? Would you want to march early in day and get a rest or would you want your band to march late prelims, qualify finals, and then keep those juices flowing straight into finals???

This could go so many different ways, Saturday will be a long and grueling day for these young kids. Props to ALL of them for giving it their all. Scrolling through....so many predictions based on prior events and who beat who and where. Many of these bands just polished off right before Region. They have also adapted. I do think most peoples locks for top 3 seem legit....but 4-14 could go anywhere.

I'm just a band dad, new to this world but want to give a shout out to a band that's not my own! John Horn High School has a really neat show. I've seen them perform 4-times between Football game, Mesquite, and 2x at Birdville. Every performance they get stronger. Not likely a top 15 but they should be very proud of their growth throughout the season!

If you saw Rockwall early in season, just wait for the finished product. They are gaining steam at the right time. Area is definitely stacked. Mckinney was not their best performance of year but did move up a spot in Finals. This past weekend was their first BOA trip and missed finals by .65 of a point. They won prelims and Grand Champions at Birdville ISD event...not a stacked event but top 3 bands were solid for sure. Rockwall may be peaking at the right time to make some area noise. Interesting to note...for who knows why...but they really perform their best at night. If they can make finals at Regions...it only takes 1 solid show. It's going to be a powerful 6 that make state and 4-5 that feels like they should have!!! Too early to make state predictions but can't wait to see Wednesday.
