  1. These will be wrong, and that’s okay; but my personal opinions and prediction of ranks: 1. Hebron 2. Flower Mound 3. Woodlands Vandegrift Vista Ridge Ronald Reagan Rouse Pearland Cedar Park Keller Moe and Gene Johnson Bridgeland Dripping Springs Cedar Ridge Music: Hebron Visual: Flower Mound General Effect: Hebron
  2. In my experience, and past knowledge, judges are usually very lenient with penalties during finals. This last run is more so a celebratory run through for all of these amazing bands great accomplishment. I’m sure there’s been penalties in years past, I’m no historian (and over 10 years removed from the activity), but I’ve heard it mentioned times before that the timer/clock is mostly just for show during finals.
  3. I wouldn’t give them anymore time of day. Let them sit in the stands and be “blinded”. They clearly missed the point.
  4. The screens were donated for use during their program this year. One of the band parents has connections with the company that supplied them. Their band boosters posted about this on Facebook. Ultimately, I think the screens may just be ahead of their time. There’s always a few bands that try new things before it becomes mainstream & I for one think it’s cool that they’re taking the activity to new heights. At the end of the day, band is an art form and thus subjective. What’s more important is keeping things positive & praising the work of the kids on the field. I’m sure they think the screens are quite cool too!
  5. It’ll still be an LISD sweep if they medal. 😉

  7. All great programs too! These 40 bands are representing the best of the best across the state. Some areas have more heavy hitters than others, and thus making it more difficult to advance to state. However, I’m not here to discount the work of any program. I’m 10+ years removed from this activity myself. My program made state 1 year out of the 2 we competed. We were first alternate at area the first year and placed 3rd at state in the old 4A, what would now be 5A, 2 years after. I understand what it feels like to be on the outside looking in - but healthy competition is good for all. All of these programs will continue to improve year over year & some who have made state in the past, may miss in the future, that’s just how competitive Texas Band is. Keep up the good work and strive to make a difference, for the better! 🤘🏼
  8. You’re in the TOP 40 bands of 250ish across the state. That’s basically the top 16% of 6A bands in the state. While easier said than understood in the moment, these placements do not subtract from what an accomplishment your program has achieved. Congrats on a great season!
  9. Hopefully that’ll get ironed out in finals with fewer bands to place. 🤞🏻
  10. That’s Robert Herrings for you. 😊
  11. I believe Area D is only sending 5. McNeil just missed the cut.
  12. Is there a mute button for some of these folks? Moderators… 👀
  13. This is still considered the Austin Regional, per MFA, to avoid any confusion. Source: https://marching.musicforall.org/event/austin-regional-2024/

  16. More tid bits from recaps - there were 5 bands that improved their placement from prelims to finals: Waxahachie, Cy-Fair, Bridgeland & Vista Ridge all moved up two placements from prelims to finals. Pearland moved up one placement from prelims to finals.
  17. Same thing occurred in prelims, under the same caption (Vis. Individual) too!
  18. Coppell & Pearland also tied in finals with judges preference going to Coppell. Always interesting to dissect the results afterward!
  19. They are available already - https://smbc.uiltexas.org Select 6A & Finals and there’ll you’ll have it.
  20. Side note - Vista Ridge & Flower Mound tied in finals, with the tie breaker (judges preference) going to Flower Mound.
  21. Congratulations, Vista Ridge! Moving from 7th in prelims to Top 5 in finals is killer and a feat to be proud of! Keep up the great work and best of luck from this proud alumni as y’all move into BOA SA this weekend!
