  1. final UIL order: Black Horse Troop Salvation is Created Molly on the Shore spring concert: Marching band stuff "Watchman tell us of the night" - the song about child abuse and other. ** Lincolnshire is a cool piece, and Gorb is an interesting composer.
  2. got a "I" on my Mozart solo, prepared the night before contest, so I only had 60% of it memorized, didn't try for state s&e, and after All-State, and with graduation the week of TSSEC, I don't really feel bad about not stressing about it. my clarinet quartet got together the day of contest, sight read it that day, and got a "I" (we hosted the whoel contest, so we played friday night) good luck to you guys at state, go get Outstanding Musician for me.
  3. I think they're playing Meehan's "Pulse" Opener = "Movement 1" Movement 2 = "Movement 2" Closer ="Movement 3" not sure what to think of the music...I've only heard a small bit of the closer. interesting names though...haha

  5. UIL = Molly on the Shore, Salvation is Created, and Black Horse Troop. Musical = Beauty and the Beast!!!! Spring Concert = Watchman, tell us of the Night ??
  6. that's good. seems like pretty much 90+% of the parents that responded are supportive, and only the same 8 or so people who were completely against band.
  7. the Slava excerpt for clarinets have a flutter....haha and yeah, they're pretty difficult.
  8. one of the clarinet excerpts is from Molly on the Shore...haha Thanks Ralph & Sarah!!
  9. Made it (First WW in school history..haha) Matt Barker made it again for trumpets. *Ralph* Region 19 Practices and Concert Friday, Jan.11 = 5-8PM Saturday, Jan.12 = concert at 5 at Pasadena High School again.
  10. the feeling one gets is similar to the feeling of reaching the very high top of the first roller coaster hill. See y'all when the dust clears.
  11. jk about the car.... that'd be pretty cool though
  12. clothes gift cards and a brand new aston martin
  13. as soon as i get my music. the two concert bands have gotten their folders already, but top band hasn't.
  14. still posts quite regularly.
  15. right now, we might be playing "Watchman Tell Us of the Night" by Camphouse. this will be either instead of "Molly on the Shore" (which we'd better play at some point in time this year, if it be the spring concert) or along with Molly. Wouldn't that be something? Performing BOTH Watchman and Molly. haha.
  16. Area for us is gonna be on Jan. 5 at Lamar Univ, B-mont. Stupid.... every year, it's been at UH, a pretty centralized location, why change it this year??!??
  17. you should play "Into the Faddisphere" by Jon Faddis.... but, that's not gonna be UIL playable
  18. the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. K622. Probably just movement one, since it's not on the virtuoso list.
  19. since i do not compete against any of you guys... In your audition, play not for the judges or for the respect of the other players in the room. Play for yourself. Notes, rhythm, and technique are super-important, but remember to enjoy what you are doing, the playing of your respective instrument, it shows in the way you sound. This performance is an expression of yourself. I've never eaten a banana before auditions, but it should help. It's science! Beta blocker help calm your nerves. during the warm ups, don't do it. if you must, then play a little each time, but never go playing away all of your energy. you cannot even hear yourself play, so it's quite pointless. just be calm and try to relax (but not too much..haha) good night sleep helps. The first part again. Play for yourself. Sarah: Cody, Megan, and myself have known each other for 5 years of region now. We've usually always ended up right next to each other, in one order or another.
  20. our season is OVER. sad, but kinda glad. Pasadena Memorial lost to Katy, 30-14. With 4minutes left in the half, we were AHEAD of KATY, 14-7. Then two turnovers gave them all the momentum, and they showed why they are the #4 team in America. I really wished that we could have kept it up and actually upset them though, that'd make a good movie.
