  1. Ahhh yes La Rosa gorgeous show....they should have won music to! Lol one of the most powerful ballads in BOA history literally almost blew the roof off!
  2. This will be interesting when prelims scores are released but also note that penalties only effect a bands placement (overall) score. So Reagan still lost music and GE the biggest scoring metrics. I am trying to recall a time when a band only won the visual caption and placed 1st. If anyone knows of one please let me know
  3. Cedar Ridge has always been one of the most consistent bands in the country. But today regardless of what happens in finals they made their point that they are here to stay and will always be considered a threat.
  4. CTJ still strong and could easily still take 1st but we have to wait to see what Reagan and Cedar Ridge can put up.
  5. You are correct but I couldn't gage them well enough to make a proper prediction. But they are a definitely a wild card
  6. Almost time so I will give my predictions: Top 3: It will be difficult to beat these 3 even with a few wild cards I just think these groups are on another level and with CR coming off a silver medal you can bet they are more confident than ever. 1. Claudia Taylor Johnson 2. Ronald Reagan 3. Cedar Ridge ----- Next three are a little bit all over the place because SL has not competed yet so they are the wild card here 4. Cy-Fair 5. Seven Lakes 6. Pearland ------- Bottom Half: Lake Travis is the only other band coming from Austin Finals. I think they will challenge Clear Brook for top spot in the bottom half. 7. Clear Brook 8. Lake Travis 9. Friendswood 10. Oak Ridge 11. Dawson 12. Stephen F. Austin After reviewing the scores from North Houston and watching some videos it gave me insight. The Woodlands dominated GE compared to 2nd Place finisher Cy-Fair. Over the years I have noticed Houston groups tend to struggle in this area and the top 3 will no doubt be dripping in GE on Saturday.
  7. I agree, all bands were great last night it was a very competitive contest! Which is a great thing to have, it helps bands grow and improve so all bands benefited.
  8. I believe a copyright issue at least that's the word on the streets.
  9. I heard! Very difficult when unexpected things happen.
  10. Leander had many issues but the main thing that hurts them is not being cohesive. The show seemed like it was mashed together and didn't really flow very well. I am interested to see what can be done to resolve this later in the season.
  11. Currently based on what I've have seen I think finals goes like this: Vandegrift Cedar Park Cedar Ridge Round Rock Vista Ridge Rouse But its hard to really say! Vandegrift is no doubt 1st based on overall performance.
  12. A little shocked by round rock but also very proud of them. After the placements top 6 I think are Vandegrift Cedar Ridge Cedar Park Rouse Round Rock Vista Ridge Maybe Rouse and Round Rock switched still very excited to see them under finals lights.
  13. My current prediction: Vandegrift Cedar Ridge Cedar Park Rouse Westlake Vista Ridge Hendrickson Bowie Round Rock Leander Dripping Springs Westwood
  14. Wow Cedar Ridge the visual....the guard!
  15. Very good Round Rock i am seeing progression which makes me super happy for them. There has been issues with their visual performance over the years but I can see that they are working on that.
  16. Cedar Park and Rouse at this point are the standard. Sound from cedar park was outstanding and Rouse sounds and looks fantastic this year! Waiting for the last block to see where these 2 will end up.
  17. I am lucky enough to live in the area and to have seen most of the bands that will probably make finals My top 5 predictions below: 1. Vandegrift: No real shockers here they are a grand national champion and they are clearly showing it this early in the season. I would be surprised to see anyone over take them. What sets them apart is their challenging show design both musically and visually. I always love when a band really goes all out with their design both aesthetically and visually which I expect nothing less from vandy. I have seen CTJ which will not be attending this contest but in my opinion would come in second to Vandegrift. 2 - 4: Very hard to predict because there are so many groups that are doing great early in the season. Cedar Ridge: A group I believe will likely surprise a lot of people which is a shocker because they are one of the most consistent groups in the country. I saw them perform with props and colorguard all decked out. All I can say is this is the their best early season performance I have seen of them since 2014. They are usually a group that starts a little messy and gradually as they clean become more of a threat. I think they are moving towards a more offensive approach and really showing that they are a music powerhouse. Not sure what other posters were watching because visually they are on top of their game this year. Their Guard in my opinion is the best I have seen so far this gives them a lot of general effect points that I think may put them over Cedar Park or Vista. Cedar Park: Clean and simple can still be a winner with the right touch. Cedar Park is one of my favorite groups historically when it comes to their musical approach. Big fan of their work from 2008-2012 which I feel is the direction they are going with this year. My only fear is general effect wise it may lack compared to the ridges which i see as their main competition. However, they still are super clean which could benefit them in an early season contest. Vista Ridge: Musically they are finding themselves this year than last which i felt got lost mid-season. To me they are the group with the most potential if they can dedicate themselves to believing in their production. My favorite part of their show is their ballad which to me always should be apart of every show design. They are returning to a simpler model this year which is possibly due to the reception of 2021. In my opinion they are stronger GE wise than Cedar Park but weaker than Cedar Ridge. They are are stronger than Cedar Ridge in music but weaker then Cedar Park. This is why it is so difficult to rank these three. 5. Rouse: The only group I have not seen but have spoken with a few people who have and will rank them here but they could easily score higher. The only thing that hurts this group is something they have no control over and that is their size. I hate looking at factors that are not related to performance but when it comes to Texas the bigger the band the better your chances are of success. This is something that I also believe effects Cedar Ridge but they have been growing since 2018 where Rouse seems to be stagnant. I was captivated by last years show and would be surprised if they are not in top 6.
  18. yeah what is up with that metronome? that section is not even that demanding to need it this late in the season.
  19. in the past 30 mins Reagan and Cedar Ridge and Now Vandegrift have blown my face right off! Reagan and Cedar Ridge probably the best run they have had all season.
  20. correct: 246 - 20-30 each area - between 35-40 state prelims and 12 state finalist. So yes, top 12 is a very high honor! even 20 would be great.
  21. Totally agree!!! Round Rocks music has always made them shine! My one critique is the visual and concept of their show. They lack the effect of the other finalists.
  22. The Music of the top 7 is next level! What a love is each bands style. When they perform you know it's them.
  23. Odd it looks like Vista's visual performance took a hit in finals.
