  1. Haha I think Montoya meant it in a sarcastic way... He's a composer for marching band music.
  2. That's the thing, though... The only other band I was able to see was Reagan; and honestly, I really wasn't that impressed. They're a good band, but it was a step-down from last year. I don't think anyone's predictions matched that of the judge's scores, scores were all over the place. After our band got back from the contest, though, we did watch our show. We were very inconsistent visually. We've definitely got to work on drill and visuals a lot more. If anything, yesterday's turn of events definitely gives Brazoswood more publicity, which is probably a good thing. Also, who doesn't need a good kick in the rear? I'm sure the level of rehearsal intensity will only be rising from here on out.
  3. Hey all, thought I'd drop by and put in some input. First off, I'm from Brazoswood. It's no lie, our 4th movement was extremely dirty; we just got the drill in from our writer (who hasn't done much good for us...) about a week ago, so it was really hard to polish all that up in time for today's show. We also started rehearsing with the show props on Wednesday. GE is something I believe will be addressed in due time. We were all very happy to get the Music caption, that's certain (last/initial time that happened was the Houston BOA 2 years ago at Rice). What gave us a surprise was how this event has NEVER happened before (a class 3A getting a caption award and not making finals). We were all puzzled; band directors, students, parents and all. Then again...BOAs are unpredictable, you never know what's going to happen at them. We did alright, it just wasn't our best show. We're starting to wonder if we got a major penalty or something...we're really interested to see the score logistics. I was confused; some bands popped up that I hadn't even heard of. I've never heard of Martin, and I'm surprised Clear Brook placed higher than Churchhill. But hey, first contest of the year for us. We'll see you all soon once again. Thanks for the compliments, too. Everyone did great today, no doubt.
  4. Westfield hasn't signed up yet? I'm surprised. I'm pretty sure we're going to the LSP this year. I don't know...not my favorite contest. I definitely like BOAs a lot more.
  5. Each horn has its own response issues. The high G seems to be one of the harder notes to get a response from of out of any kind of sax, though. When I first started playing sax, I started out on an Alto (Yamaha). I then switched to a tenor (Selmer Series 2), and it works really well. I hear the Selmer Mark 6 Series 3 works exceptionally well, too (but I'm sure it's pricy).
  6. I'd say our school has a pretty strong Sax program. We're without a private lesson teacher, but the directors are working on it. I can't remember off the top of my head, but we probably have around 20-25 Altos, 6 Tenors, and like 1-2 Baris.
  7. I have to say that I'm quite surprised at the results. They were extremely inconsistent. Also, how did Bowie place in the bottom 5? In my opinion, they had the best drill and were the cleanest in their drill. Now Marcus...they were amazing, as simple as that. Duncanville played really well, but I didn't much care for the drill. Reagan had tons of energy in their sound. But one thing that I find confusing is how Bell made it 2nd in finals? Honestly, what was it about their show that y'all liked? The music wasn't as good as some of the other bands, and their drill definitely wasn't as exciting. Since when did spasmic reactions from the colorgaurd gaurantee 2nd place? Something I want to ask the judges. Now with all respect, all of the bands worked extremely hard, and I respect every one of them, it's just that I don't think that the judges did a lot of the bands justice.
  8. Really? Brazoswood was talking bad? I'm from there, and SuperManuel is right, we do try to keep it under control. We have a TON of freshmen this year, and they don't know what it's all about. I'm also sorry that that happened. Next time it does happen, smack them in the face, we're tired of doing it
  9. apparently rumors say that they got disqualified this year, but I'm unsure. They haven't been doing UIL in recent years.
  10. It's not a big deal if the topic has meaning.
  11. Hah, exactly. Remember when they took forever to announce the results in the finals? I thought she had like died or something.
  12. The Wii owned. It's going to be in tough competition with Microsoft, and will definitely blow Sony out of the gaming industry
  13. Just wondering, but is anyone else from the official Nintendo forums here? My screenname there is ANTS1.
  14. Yeah, lol, try your Sax double-tounging skills on "Overture to Colas Breugnon".
  15. Yeah, Galena Park was awesome!(I'm new to the forums, anyone a member at Nintendo Nsider Forumes?) I'm from Brazoswood, and all the bands that I saw were great. I didn't get a chance to see Spring or Clear Brook, but Woodlands definitely impressed me, and Klein had a solid performance as well.
