lol... we stand there and play the same song over and over again for 15 minuts while they read out the list of accomplishments of the homecomeing king, queen and all that other junk.

10% if the band stays focused. Sadly like 40% of them dont care... Every one starts to get serious AFTER our first comp when its to late.

So for you mello players out there, I marched the trumpet this year and now im on alto for concert seaon (which im already tired of) so for next year's marching season im supposed to go back to trumpet, but our trumpet section is the largest section in our band and i realy dont think they need any more sound than they already have. The only problem is that they are all all 8th graders... but beleive it or not, pretty good. So if they are storng enough without me i might switch to the mello. How easy is it go from mello to trumpet and which one would be better for me to play on? A Bb Mello cus it has the same fingerings as a trumpet, or a F mello. To tell the truth i realy do know the difference in the two...?

I agree with that too... wow thats a BIG french horn section! We just have one in our band.

If any one deserves pep rally's at our school, its the vollyball team. They make it to playoff's every year.

Oye como va was our marching show like four years ago. It was like the last time we got a 1 in since then. yea we do "somewhere out there" for our homecoming song.... *pukes*

yea thats why i dont take mine home alot either. if i could just fit it in my locker i would but my case it to big.

I dont know... I havent realy even started practing yet.... The saxophone music looks pretty hard. (Region 14). Im gonna need to start practicing. My goal is to at least make it to area too.

I play on a 7c mouth piece for marching band cus it gives me a broght sound. Whats a good size for concert band?

I use size 3. I've been wanting to switch to 3 1/2 but havent got the chance...

Realy, thats awesome. Is there any way you could give me an idea of where to shave a reed for the brighter sound? So how do the ligatures play important role in the sound. lol.

So whats the best brand of reed to buy? I heard that RICO reeds are realy bad and should not be used... idk tho. I used one the other day and i seemed to work fine for me. I use Vandorean (yea i know i spelled that wrong) size 3 right now.

Yea ours have just learned to ingore our group... even when one of them comes to the back we act like there not there and act like we would even if they werent there so they just ignore us...

Well if you have a strong enough woodwing section they can add alot of color to the sound. Theres parts of songs that arent meant to sound brassy and thats something only the sound of a good clarinet and/or flute section can achieve.

If your interested in jazz band why not learn the saxophone, its alot easier to learn and just as great (ALMOST the same)... its also a jazz insterment.

I switched from alto sax to trumpet and I found I had to tighten my lips alot more. I can easily go between the two insterments now tho. Yea i agree going to from high to low brass is alot easier.
