I’ll be honest....I don’t think I’ve ever loved a Leander ballad...but this year...wow...this show is special. -

They look fantastic but I can’t not think of the logistical issues with them -

I believe they are reusing some music from 2017...which is interesting to me... -

I totally agree with you about how finding the balance between difficulty and achievement is of great importance and also great difficulty. Some of the best and most memorable Texas shows of recent (FloMo 16, Vista 18) weren’t all that difficult. The only exception would be CTJ 17 but their biggest competition (Hebron) also had a show with insane difficulty. I truly hope that the two week gap between SA and Nats gives Team Texas the time to make changes and clean up to have the best possible performances in Indy. -

The Leander “Toxic” section is so good I keep wanting to listen to it!!! WAY better than how BD used Britney this summer. -

Leander is SO FUN. Wow. Also the opener reminds me a lot of Crown. -

I marched for Keller. So forgive my bias everyone. I’m gonna try my best to not go full fanboy for my alma mater and rather appreciate the art that everyone brings to the field this fall. -

I’m especially excited for this season because as a new alumni, I want to be a fan for ALL. But, I will always be a little biased -

The thing that’s so interesting to me about that is that these bands plan these things so far ahead that there isn’t really any time to copy DCI trends from the summer. Is it that these designers also work with DCI groups so they bring concepts over or just a coincidence? I’m wonder what conversations go down in the band directors/designer world that lead to new weird trends. -

There is a trombone solo/duet but it’s just quiet. I agree that it needs something more though. -

It’s a shame that two of the greatest modern marching shows (Leonardo’s Dream, Age Of Discovery) didn’t go to nats that year. -

WOW! This year is going to be so amazing to watch! Vista and Keller have me so excited! Their shows remind me of each other’s...probably the field setup and the dark and edgy music. Keller is performing at a really high level already and that Vista soprano solo -

It’s crazy to think that bands will be performing at football games in August after last year’s weather. I remember that at least in DFW, some bands didn’t get to perform until the second weekend in September and it was STILL raining that day! -
SO good!!! Severely underrated. One of my all time favorites.
-
Now I’m excited. They had some of my favorite shows before 2017.

Is Round Rock making major changes this year? What makes you say they would be above Hendrickson and Bowie?

Maybe we will be seeing some HTTYD on the field this year, akin to a certain BAC show -

I do believe Hebron has Kevin Nix, who writes drill for Keller as well. Edit: Read the post above mine so I guess I’m wrong about Hebron. -

I have a feeling that this year will blow 2017 out of the water (in terms of level of competition at San Antonio). Based on what I’ve seen/heard, the top dogs know what they have to do to remain competitive and the ambition is through the roof. -

That is my favorite Round Rock show and one of my favorite shows of all time. It was just such a well rounded (not a pun lol) production.
