I was told by the band president those were their finals score. I don't know what the prelims were. I have no reason to believe they are incorrect or i wouldn't have posted them.

I can tell you all with 100% certainty that this is false. The only people in the field house before their performance & the prelim award ceremony was the 7 Lakes food crew. The band was second from last to play and were in the stands, SE corner of the stadium for the prelim ceremony. The band DID eat their dinner in the banquet room after the prelim ceremony but that’s it.

I heard last weekend in San Antonio that 2 judges from area I were fired or asked not to return. This is the area that Katy and Jersey Village placed 1st and 2nd over Cy-Fair, JET, & 7Lakes. Anyone know if this is fact or fiction and if so what were the reasons ?

Not sure how this happened but this was a shocking result for most who were there. I saw the show, its nice, cool props, fun circus theme but there doesn't seem to be a high degree of music or marching difficulty at all. I believe for that reason Katy has not placed that well in competitions this year, until now. I am far from an expert though so... Two weeks ago in the Katy Marching Festival if I remember correctly they finished behind Seven Lakes (KMF 1st, BOA 2nd & 7th), JET(BOA finalist), Tompkins (KMF 1st place guard), & Cinco Ranch. Looking at the scoring, I saw it, not exactly, but pretty much the same as judge 1 1 7Lakes 2 CyFair 3 JET 4 Jersey Village 5 (toss up) CyFalls, Katy All that being said I think making state is the goal and the most deserving pretty much did.

Thanks for the lessons, not sure I'll ever know exactly what to be looking for though. For the uninformed like me maybe it was the eye candy of the props from the other schools that swayed or awed us. I'm sure like any competition that's judged ie gymnastics or figure skating there will always be questions about scoring and those who see it differently.

I am new to the marching band scene and may not know what I'm talking about but I have a question. First I absolutely mean no disrespect to Cy-Fair but in my eyes and many sitting around us thought the bands listed above plus SFA had better shows then Cy-Fairs. A few people mentioned Cy-Fair has a good reputation as a quality band and i'm not disputing that they aren't at all. So being new my question is ... Does a schools reputation usually earn them a few extra points from judges or a preconceived ranking based on their rep ? Again not hating on Cy-Fair, enjoyed their show, just thought others were better.
