  4. Even thought there are 6-8 fewer attendees, there will still be 10 finalists. That's a great opportunity for the kids in some of the smaller bands that rarely make finals in competitions. There's nothing better than performing under the lights!

  6. Good afternoon all, As the BOA Houston Host Band Booster President, I wanted to take a moment to tell you how great your kids were all day. It was a hot one in h-town and the kids performed well. And kudos to the directors and parent volunteers for keeping the kiddoes hydrated. We had minimal issues with dehydration and overheating. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see many bands due to responsibilities during the day but, what I heard sounded incredible. Congrats to Reagan for another big win. See y'all next year! Mark
  7. Appreciate the kind words and we'll miss y'all. It's a long, hot day but we really do enjoy hosting the competition.
  8. I really thought College Park High School had a shot at making BOA SA finals in 2016 with Maestro. The band qualified for the 6A State Marching competition that year (first time ever!) and the kids were still flying high from their Region F Finals performance. Unfortunately, the band performed late morning on Saturday in San Antonio after a Friday night game. That meant about 4 hours sleep and a 4:00 AM departure for the Dome. I absolutely loved that show.
  9. Yeah, it was definitely hot in the Houston area this week. Each rehearsal day, we had a group of parents fill coolers with ice water and abbout 300 washclothes. When the kids got a water break, then ran to the coolers to get a cool rag on their necks and heads first. It really worked well at keeping them a bit cooler and keeping their spirits & morale up.
  10. Woodlands College Park parent here. We host the Houston regional. Very much looking forward to seeing all of this year's shows. Really excited that CTJ is coming back this year. We missed them last year.
  11. Finalists: The Woodlands College park Oak ridge Dawson North shore Friendswood Brazoswood Cy-fair Clear brook Stephen F Austin Westfield. That’s in random order.
