  3. Well your absolutely correct, except more like 80% of the show was music Reagan had done before due to Guidry doing their music as well. Broken's Arrow's show where former Reagan was played: 9:00-9:20 9:55-10:36: Reagan 2002 Closer 1:50-2:20 3:20-4:05 4:45-5:00 7:45-8:30: Reagan 2004, nearly identical to intro in music and some similarities in drill as well 6:40-7:40: Reagan 2005 Trumpet solo
  4. Full recaps of prelims/finals are posted: Finals Prelims
  5. Well the 2 prelims days have completely different judging panels so if there is indeed an issue such as prior commitment (state) I dont see any unfair advantage. I have also noticed Carmel and Center Grove typically go on day 1 and Carmel has gone on day 1 since 2000 which is as far as i checked the odds of them drawing a day 1 time 5 years in a row is very slim.
  6. I am pretty sure the band directors can request what prelims date they go in order to fit the bands needs way in advance. I believe Bell Churchill and The Woodlands have always gone on the second day of prelims by request. I would seriously doubt that Bowie and for that matter The Woodlands/Bell/Churchill who also are going to both would not have taken this situation into account when planning.
  7. I never said they were not great or amazing cedar park put on a great show... In MY opinion they could have been executed a little better and they could be cleaned up a tad before state. Its called constructive criticism.... and I really hope you dont go to Cedar Park
  8. I saw 3/4 of finals just some brief thoughts on what I can remember Leander: Easily the smallest band in finals as well as about 4 holes but their performance didnt show it. I was quite surprised great overall show the only thing it lacked was a clear tuba/baritone presence which caused impacts moments not to be quite as full as they could be. Georgetown: I hadnt heard much about them prior to this but it was a pleasant surprise. Pretty good size band with a nice sound when the trumpets backed off some cant remember much else sorry guys.. Westlake: Bass drum took quite a bad fall in the opener but he seemed to be ok. Trombone solo was quite good but it seemed like they were having either some phasing issues or electronic issues as it didnt seem to quite line up after the initial statement. I really enjoyed the show and it was well executed by the performers it just seemed it didnt really line up together as one whole production. Akins: Where did these guys come from? Overall a terrific performance, drill was quite clean and moved pretty fast dont know if it was all that difficult but nonetheless it was good. They had a little problem with some people overplaying and creating some forced sounds but it was nothing to go home about. I have one request though get some new unis if you can lol Round Rock: Another great performance. The brass seemed to be the focus of the show unless im overlooking something there was not much woodwind exposure. Drumline was solid as well. The thing that prevented them from placing higher in my opinion was the difficulty in comparison to the other bands. Cedar Park: After last year I was not sure what to expect but they are back into the thick of things. Loud brass who carried the show showed great balance just need to work a little bit on control. The woodwind features were like 9/10ths of the way there just didnt quite line up and were top heavy with flute/clarinet being heard solely but they were not easy. Drill was executed near flawlessly from what I saw which is what UiL is all about (Did I see some moves from 04 in there?) Reagan: As for being a "Boa" band only I think that changed last night. In my opinion the best playing band by far of the ones I saw you could hear every component of the band during full ensemble moments with great sounds. Seemed to have the same problem with cedar park and woodwind runs not quite lining up right but reagans seemed to be a couple notches above difficulty wise. Drumline was solid as well. Ending was great with the company front. They seem to have a lot more people on the field then previous years. I had to leave after reagan do to prior commitments It will be interesting to see how things go down at state.
  9. Anybody know prelims results or individual judge rankings?
  10. Looked on the Crossmen website under audition materials and although it is not announced yet they said who the percussion/guard heads are... "Percussion The percussion will be led by Roland Chavez and staff. Basic exercises will be an integral part of the audition material for the battery and pit percussion prospectives. Colorguard With his team of experts, Mike Sloan will be taking on the colorguard for the upcoming season. Audition material highlights the basic strengths and abilities that members should come prepared to perform and/or work on. * Fill-out the 2007 Application NOW to receive information" So Brass: Rick Villareal Guard: Mike Sloan (Churchill Guard Director) Percussion: Roland Chavez (Current Reagan Percussion Director)
  11. Since Reagan's director is judging this contest I would assume they are not going to Boa Arlington now?
  12. I just threw some names in without thinking sweet!
