  1. I honestly have no idea how things are going to shake out on Saturday. It seems like a few bands are not as good as they were last year and others are stepping it up. That’s what makes it exciting every year. You just never know. No matter what it’s gonna be a beautiful day and a great day of marching band!
  2. What happened to change your mind about Friendswood? You had them at "first, wins by a mile not even close" earlier....
  3. Most programs seem to keep their videos close to the vest until after area… as is typical I am having problems finding current year videos for most of these bands.
  4. Whew! Anyone else getting Bluecoats vibes from that Woodlands show? Non-stop playing and moving at 180 bpm? That was fun. I assume they had to cut it short for UIL, looking forward to seeing it at the Super Regional.
  5. This Area I feed is the best I have seen from NFHS. Centered, decent audio, screen graphics with schedule and time (occasionally) and you can even understand the announcer.
  6. North Shore - Great show! I have not seen them in a few years! That run should easily put them in finals. Some really nice brass work!!
  7. All I see is a frozen image of an empty stadium. The other area feeds are working but not J for me. 🙄 edit - I was choosing the “on demand” feed instead of Live. And I missed Hebron. 😞
  8. I compiled all the Area scheUIL_6A_Area_SatOct25.pdfUIL_6A_Area_MonOct27.pdfdules into two PDFs - one for Saturday and one for Monday. Please proof and let me know if there are any errors - I'm brain dead staring at it. Shout out to ChatGPT for the help reformatting the columns for easy cut and paste into Excel. These are PDFs. Enjoy! (If any areas on the Saturday list postpone to Monday I'll update and post a new version).
  9. So just to summarize: Area A - El Paso Sat 10/25 Area B - Bedford Sat 10/25 Area C - Mesquite Sat 10/25 Area D - Round Rock Sat 10/25 Area E - Iowa Colony Mon 10/27 Area F - Conroe Mon 10/27 Area G - McAllen Sat 10/25 Area H - Leander Sat 10/25 Area I - Katy Mon 10/27 Area J - McKinney Sat 10/25
  10. I just watched the latest weather forecast from the noon news and their projected timeline shows the rain moving through the Houston area early Saturday morning and clearing out by 9:00ish. Then scattered showers throughout the day. I’m glad I’m not the one having to make the call on whether to postpone or not.
  11. That should be a requirement.
  12. That's not official. I shared that with some others and they are not so sure - I don't really understand all the components to the formula, I'm just an overzealous band dad. 🙂
  13. Edited my post to show Nederland as military.
  14. Ok, I didn't know military bands counted towards the number, since they usually go to the State Military Marching Band Contest instead. That's great news! Also there was a missing band in the list posted above - I just double-checked all the regions though, and here is the updated list - please feel free to correct me if I missed anyone this time around. BUT if Military counts, that's great news....because now we are at 30 bands to qualify and 6 spots to State, as you said! I stand corrected, and gladly so! Region 8 - (2 bands) A&M Consolidated College Station Region 9 - (3 bands) Lake Creek Huntsville (Military) Splendora Region 10 - (4 bands) Port Neches-Groves West Brook Dayton Nederland (Military) Region 13 - (3 bands) Kempner Lamar Consolidated Randle Region 17 - (4 bands) Angleton Friendswood Iowa Colony Santa Fe Region 19 - (5 bands) Barbers Hill Baytown Lee Baytown Sterling La Porte Pasadena Region 23 - (2 bands) Sterling Waltrip Region 27 - (2 bands) Spring Woods Brenham Region 33 - (5 bands) Crosby (Military) Galena Park Kingwood Park Porter West Fork
  15. Region 23 is in! Sterling and Waltrip also advance with straight 1’s. (Westbury received a 2). 27 bands qualified to advance to Area E!
  16. Region 9 results are in! Lake Creek and Splendora both receive straight 1's and advance to Area! Huntsville also received straight 1's but they are military. Montgomery, also military, got a 2. If my math is right, that brings us to 25 bands that advance to Area E 5A. So there should be 5 state slots! Still waiting on Region 23 - hopefully we get one or two more for a buffer.
  17. Results are in for Region 27 - Brenham and Springwoods both received straight 1's and advance to Area.
  18. Huntsville is also military. I edited both my posts above - there were errors in both of them! Sorry about that.
  19. Here are the rules from the UIL site. If we have at least 30 bands to Area (which seems likely) then there will be 12 finalists, unless the rules have changed? EDIT: I think you are right after all - my calculations are all messed up and it does not look like we will have more than 29 bands make it... so it will most likely be 10 finalists. Apologies. If there are 9 or fewer bands that qualify for an area contest the preliminary round will stand as the final round. If there are 9 or fewer bands in a state contest the top 5 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, in the five-judge system only, any band below fifth place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges will also advance to the final round. If there are 10 to 19 bands that qualify for an area contest or 10 to 19 bands in a state contest the top 7 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, in the five-judge system only, any band below seventh place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges will also advance to the final round. If there are 20 to 29 bands that qualify for an area contest or 20 to 29 bands in a state contest the top 10 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, in the five-judge system only, any band below tenth place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges will also advance to the final round. If there are 30 or more bands that qualify for an area contest or 30 to 39 bands in a state contest the top 12 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, in the five-judge system only, any band below twelfth place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges will also advance to the final round. If there are 40 or more bands in a state contest the top 14 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, in the five-judge system only, any band below fourteenth place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges will also advance to the final round.
  20. I also have Marshall on the list of bands that did not advance - if this is the same Marshall listed like this in the "All Region Results" thread under Region 23: Non-Varsity 5A (Does Not move on past Region)- Marshall HS (Missouri City)- 2 EDIT: My calculations were all messed up. I didn't remember two of the "bands" on the draw list are just "BLANK" slots in case they forgot someone. Using your list above of bands that DID Make it and starting from 0 instead of 46 .... it seems there are 21 bands currently qualified for area. If four more qualify, we will be at 25 bands... meaning five slots to state. Last year, five of the remaining bands (that perform today) received straight 1's - so we should be in good shape. Sorry for jumping the gun, just ready for AREA!
  21. Thank you! Excellent summary.
  22. So I guess the results are in except we are waiting on Regions 23 & Region 27 to have their contests tomorrow (Tuesday)? I only count five bands that did not advance so far? I could be wrong - correct me if so!
  23. Theme for today! Good luck to everyone at their region evaluations!
  24. Good luck to everyone at Region!
