  1. My band director told us a few years ago that its not about what you have but its about how you do it. I also used to believe that harder drill should be rewarded but thats just not how it is or it how it will ever be, in UIL atleast. Coppell will always have less demanding drill but they will also always sound amazing, which is what UIL is mostly about right? If you look at Duncaville and Marcus, they usually follow that same trend and it is obvious in both of their sounds. Also, I was at state alllll day. It seriously is like amazing how talented our state is. It was just like great band..after great band...after great band. And finals was insane. I agreed with the Marcus placing even though I thought Bell's show was "cooler". I think it'd be really hard to deny Marcus of a championship with a sound like that, it's almost ridiculous how well they blend and balance. I can't imagine being a judge, it would seriously be so hard. One quick question though, why do Bell's tubas sit down at the beginning? Like I've never really asked but I've always wondered, sorry if this question has been asked before..
  2. Mansfield and Legacy are definitely rising and its cool to see since I have really good friends at both schools but when MISD opens ANOTHER school in 2011 it's hard to say what will happen.. Hopefully yall won't be hit as hard as Summit was last year when Legacy opened:(
  3. wow trey when i read your post i was like "no way we 170 people on the field!" but then i thought about it..64 brass, 64 woodwinds and then including drumline and guard..those were the days
  4. Hey where did you get that information? Just wondering because I heard the same thing but it was one of those I heard it from someone who heard it from someone else... and I figured it was just kids making excuses to make themselves feel better. But since you posted it, you must have a reliable source or something. And you say we lost some luster as if you were suprised. We basically got in split in half and our band director left for Wylie. Maybe it wasn't your intent, but it kind of felt as though you just wanted to put Summit down and wanted everyone else to read it.. I am almost 100% sure (you being a tech at Legacy and all) you knew from maybe Day 1 that Summit wouldn't be the same. But if this was in no way your intention then I am sorry. And last thing. About Mansfield having the best performance of the night.. I think you're just a littttle bit biased. You graduated from Mansfield last year right?
  5. You wish mansfield made state?? Last year??? or are you talking about a different mansfield?? im so confused
  6. timberview has been open for 4 years.. they've been 5A for 2 years i think
  7. Yeah, they were a pretty good size. Bigger than Summit and maybe bigger than Timberview..
  8. we marched like 14 out of 18 last year.. and this year we marching 9 out of 10 my class had NINE freshman horns.. i would kill to get 9 more horns next year
  9. haha yeah i know but i haven't written on here in while so i thought i would.. but umm yeah im pretty sure we're going cause we go every year
  10. I'll definitely take October over An American Elegy. But if you are asking which composer I prefer, I will take Tichelli over Whitacre any day.
  11. haha when we were in chicago for our spring trip a few of us were at the mall and my friend was like a floor above us and he was trying to tell us something for like five minutes but we were on the most like comfotable bench and we didnt feel like moving. a few minutes later he comes and tells us shaq was like right behind us. we freaked out so we went looking for shaq but we didnt find him but we did see udonis haslem and jason kapono because the heat were in town playing the bulls. it was so tight
  12. You're right, our entire band (not just 1/3) was stuck in Chicago with virtually no money. Then we manage to find a hotel, only to be told we have to stay 6 to a room and some rooms had no bed. Most of us didn't even get to the hotel until after 12 because we only had like 1 shuttle transporting us from the airport. Then we find out we're going to be split up and go pretty much all over the country to catch a flight to Dallas because it was the only way. Then we wake up at 6 and get to airport only to be told we had that we had to swtich flights again. Then after all that is said and done, our flight gets delayed until 5pm because Chicago starts getting bad weather. Just when we though it was finally over and our plane was like having troubles or something so we sat there for thirty minutes on the plane while they fixed something. It was a long day, but that's nothing. But don't get me wrong, Chicago was AMAZING.
  13. When is everyone going on their trips? We leave to Chicago TOMORROW!
  14. Yeah, especially since alot of the top assistant coaches prospects have already been taken..
  15. I'm rooting for the Colts now that the patriots are out. I think Grossman is too inconsistant, but who knows. And the Colts run defense was horrrrible in the regular season but I don't think you can say the same thing now. Colts - 27 Bears - 24 Adam Vinatieri game winning field goal. Haha, if it happens, I called it. More importantly.......Cowboys 2007
  16. Saints over Bears Patriots over Colts I kinda wanna see Manning finally get a ring...... but then again not really.
  17. People still mad at Tony Romo..
  18. Kirkpatrick Fanfare is really cool we played it at region last year. It looked kinda lame at first but I really liked it in the end. Cool horn stuff... but you don't play horn. lol
