Bowie and Curchill tied for 3rd. Akins 5th.

Top five moving on to state: Reagan Churchill Bowie Cedar Park Akins (dark horse) The top 4 are repeating state finalists. Akins, doing the Pines of Rome, pretty good brass sound. They have a very U.I.L. appealing show and are my suprise pick.

Which bands?

While watching Cedar Park, I was so excited because I love Fire of Eternal Glory. However, I was not a big fan of the arrangement. It is a great song and the band definitely has a great sound, but the show seems to just come out of nowhere and play it at the end. Also, the drum part during the actual fire part, I didn't really thnk it sounds that great accompanying the band. Overall, the band seems to have rebounded from last year and probably will make state.

Akins is going to the USSBA in Hays this weekend. Their show is pretty good. They're are doing "Pines of Rome" and they have a really good sound. Don't count them out of area or state.

Is anyone gonna do reviews?

I bet that James Bowie will be going also.

I was fortunate enough to catch the taping this past Wednesday. It looked to me like Georgetwon and Pflugy were the two best for that round. However, past winners Bowie and Austin High were there re-taping I guess. Bowie's show was by far the best there. All this has excited me about my marching days.
