  1. Well... Creekview made Finals. And I am quite happy about that. Kinda sad that we didn't make state, but oh well. I had hella fun out there on that field, and I think that most of the bands out there deserved to go to state, and most didn't. This was just the hardest freaking competition in HISTORY! And to even make Finals was just an AMAZING feeling. I am still excited about it.
  2. So sad... i think there is a band that we should have definitley done better than... but who cares. Even though we didn't make State, we still made Area Finals, and that is darn good. I am very proud of our band for everything we have done. We deserved every moment we got out there, and so does every other band out there. Congrats to all the [["winning"]] bands.
  3. OMG!!! There is someone in my section like that... and there are quite a few in my band. And I know that honestly, I do text on the field. But I only do that when our BD is working with another section, and Aaron thinks it is necessary to put us at check. Then I know it is going to be a while. But as soon as they say "Up!" it's back in my pocket and I wait till the next time I can use my phone. And I do complain sometimes. But I only complain about MAJOR things. And I never EVER EVER EVER complained during drill learning season. Which was the hardest. Anyways... I don't remeber where I was going with this other than people that do nothing shuold be kicked out of the band cause that one person is going to be the one that prevents a really good band from going to State. I am so tired. Just got back from a game. lol
  4. It doesn't bother me that parents are around 24/7. Without the band moms [[and dads]] there would be no band. We honestly coudn't do it without them, so I don't have a problem with them enjoying every minute of something that they contributed to. Especially Mrs.Parker. I love her to death cause she is the greatest.
  5. Same here. I think Richland is going to make Finals, if not state. I have only seen it once, and I am sure they have gotten a lot better since then, but I keep replaying that in my head. I just thought to myself "That is an amzing show." And that is what I want people to say when they see our show. But hey, whatever. Richland is going to make finals. And if they don't.... then... well... well... that's dumb.
  6. I am quite excited. I am hoping that we will stay the two extra days due to us making state, but I don't know how we will do at Area this Saturday. I think I have reached that point that most [[good]] band students get to when you begin to see all of the bad things and all of the amazing things in your show are so commonplace, that they seem less interesting. I guess I am just paranoid about it, but I am still optimistic about our band. If everyone goes out there and does their best at Area, State, Super Regional, whatever... I know we can make finals. Other than that, I can't say.
  7. Hahaha!!! Yay. I feel all special and stuff. Thanks for the comments. And about the green plumes.... there is a lot of random stuff in the show... mostly musical... very odd... but we have been working our asses off, and I hope I am not out of line by speaking for the whole band, but we really do appreciate the positive feedback.
  8. I honestly feel that since we started learning drill, we have surpassed anything we hoped to gain in our show. I realize that there are still a few issues, but there will never be a time when 180 people will all get it perfect. So I am just wondering what anyone else who has seen our show thinks about it? Performances from a while back, recent performances... anything. Just wondering since Area is this Saturday. Thanks!
  9. I thought it was a great show. Love the whole DDR theme [[really unique]] and the execution of the drill was amazingly together. The music was very balanced, had a good ensemble sound, and I don't remeber hearing any individuals stick out any of the times I saw it. Really good show.
  10. So I realize that since marching band is an organization, one that takes participation from everyone 99% of the time... attendance at every rehearsal, practice, class, lesson, sectional, whatever... is absolutely necessary. But what do you think can be considered as an excused absense, and what is just BS that people try to use to get out of going to rehearsal? I think that if you have someone or something close to you die [[family member or pet]], then it should be excused. Everyone knows that a death in the family is excused... but what about the death of a pet...? I consider my pets my family. My two dogs mean the world to me. And this past Saturday [[October 14]], while I was at a competition, my baby girl died. Now I know that people will be like "Dude... it's just a dog...", but she was my best friend. So should that be excused or not...? And what about a last minute thing. Like... if your mother calls you and you are like "I'm coming to get you right now" and you have no say in it. Should the director get pissed off at you and tell you that you can't go? Cause I know that happened to me as well... my grandmother was sick. And my mom called me and said she was coming to get me cause my grandma was in the hospital... and then my director started bitching at me telling me that I couldn't go cause I was needed... but it's not like they ever seemed to give a crap about me unless I'm not there. And since I am in the third band at school [[shut up... it's not that I suck... it's that I don't care]]... nobody seems to think we matter. It is only Wind Symphony that matters at my school. But if you aren't in the top band, you don't mean crap. And Wind Symphony gets special priveleges too. I would like to see them try to march a show with their beloved freaking wind symphony and see how they do. Ugh... so... now that I have pretty much rambled on about nothing... it's your turn.
  11. I think that it really isn't the class you are in that makes the judges think "Oh, their music is hard" or "They have hard drill." I think it is more what your school's reputation is than anything else. Like everyone knows that Reagan and LD Bell will have good, clean, hard drills. But who knows what to think of the less infamous bands...? Oh... they may have something good to pull off, they may not. Also, the 5A bands are usually the messiest, from what I saw. But then again this is my first year being in a band that goes to any competitions, so realize that everything I say is just rambling on from a noob's point of view. Don;t hurt me! [[crouches down in fetal position]]
  12. cause God had nothing better to do with that free time. why did Trolli stop mass producing the Squiggles brand of gummi worms...?
  13. Agree 100%! Their show was amazing... they definitely get my vote. At first when they set the block right next to the inzone, i was like... "What the heck are they doing...?" And as I was scratching my head trying to figure out what to make of it, their very first move just blew me away! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Richland's show this year.
  14. can't agree with either of those comments either. wow... i guess I can say that I like a few of the people in my band as people... but other than that... it all amounts to pretty much nothing.
