Well I couldn't decide... so I made it ends after friday night. what do you think?
-
Done. Enjoy the final predictions event of the season!
-
In addition, would it not be in the director's best interests to ensure students in their programs are sucessful academically? After all, students that fail cannot participate. I challenge the parent to find a band director who does not want the students in his or her program to suceed academically.
Being a graduate from Cedar Park myself, I can say this is true for my school as well as the other schools in the district. If there was ever a need to miss marching rehearsal for school related issues, no questions are asked... the directors want students to pass.
Since I have a little background on this issue, I might also point out that one of the parents in the article suggested counting travel time to football games, football games, and travel times to contests against the 8 hour rule. Uhh... not so much!
As far as family vacations are concerned, I don't see how that differs from any other part of high school. You can't just leave school for a "trip with the family" or "weekend off" as the parent in the article put it. If you want to plan ahead of time, great! Most band programs put out a calendar for the year before marching season starts. Use it.
[/end rant]

Oh yeah, Woodlands, I was watching your show from almost the endzone so I couldn't hear much of the show, but we all thought it was a sudoku show for a while
I think it was about sudoku...maybe?

Friday's comments are back up. The oldest are at the bottom.

And if you can't make it to BOA San Antonio, please check out our TxBLive (http://live.txbands.com) exclusive coverage. We have TxBLive mobile alerts, a TxBLive Event Blog (similar to Blue Devils live blog during finals), podcasts produced at the event, a live photo gallery, and of course the streaming webcast of finals!

Results fixed and the 3 of you who predicted Pearce for 2nd got an extra point added on.

It has come to our attention that the original 4A state list for predictions had an error. Friendswood and Dickinson were merged together as one school.
If you submitted a predictions list for UIL 4A State before this message was posted, you can delete your old list to submit a new one.
http://www.txbands.com/repredict_4a.php
Two things to note:
-If you delete your old list, don't forget to make a new one. The old list is deleted as soon as you click the link on the page above.
-If you don't repredict, you will still be scored on your old list. However, you will not receive credit for Friendswood or Dickinson.
-
Travis runs it... but someone else can do it if you want to keep it updated
-
That stinks that ya'll were boo'ed. I face-planted in the middle of the field while skipping off(I'm from Cedar Park). It's funny that the Duncanville DMs were rude and ya'll ended up scoring higher than them.
It's always unfortunate when a few students can represent the whole band program negatively. It easily happens in uniform. I do remember some boos and negative comments from a few Duncanville kids at state in 2004. Too bad...

Northwest was a last minute sign up.
Since they weren't in the list, nobody could predict them. Therefore it wouldn't make any difference if they were included in the finals results list or if that spot was left blank.
-
All the predictions problems have been fixed. This has caused the scores to be recalculated. The updated scores are available at www.txbands.com/predict
-
Works for me... what goes wrong when you do it?
-
The results have been corrected and scores were recalculated.
For clarification, the official results are posted online at http://www.twhsband.com/Boosters/Fundraise...final_recap.htm and the caption results are as follows:
Outstanding Music Performance: 17.95 Brazoswood HSOutstanding Visual Performance: 16.25 College Park HS and Hendrickson HS
Outstanding General Effect: 48.30 Brazoswood HS
Outstanding Drum Line: 16.70 Spring HS
Outstanding Auxiliary: 17.80 Oak Ridge HS
The only questionable issue is the Visual tie between TWCP and Hendrickson. For the purpose of TxBands predictions, Hendrickson is considered the winner of the visual caption because their overall score is higher. Spring was indeed the winner of the percussion caption.
-
how do you add results for a contest that you started the predictions for?
Only TxB Admin or the predictions moderator can enter results of contests. If you give me the link to the results I will enter them in.
-
I got bored with the bandbucks so I didn't include them in the new upgrade... to be honest we just couldn't find a practical use for them!
-
V12's were reliable for me
and plastic reeds... they sound terrible but pretty cool
-
Travis and I will be at Westlake with giftcards and txbands tshirts. Look for us sitting as close as possible to the 50 yard line and top of the stadium.
-
Travis and I will be there. Look for us at the as close to the top of the stadium and near the 50 as possible. We'll have giftcards and shirts.
-
Yes, that's a good idea and I'll check out how to do it later tonight.
... and as far as excessive signatures, well yeah. The new forum allows us to limit the length to 2.5kb. I also have a script that runs once a day and it resizes any image with a height over 150px down to 150, so that should be a good start.
-
Done... it should work now. Sorry about that
-
hmm... I have to figure that out. I'm not sure if I will be there for both prelims and finals or just finals. I will post here once I know for sure.
-
yeah... how about this:
I'll have meetme cards with me and everyone can get bandbucks for coming
AND
I'll have a dome sweet dome shirt and giftcard(s) for the first few people who find me
