Band band band 212 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Does anyone know any info about this . I do know that it’s November 18th. And I know that Richland and Haltom are attending and competing in the the highest division ! Any other groups going that y’all know of ? Quote
snares Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Hebron, Vandergrift, Cedar Ridge are all in the same classification (don’t believe there are any marching groups this year, Flower Mound is not attending). Pretty sure Chisholm Trail is going but that is just from the whispers I here from friends in the area. Don’t know about anyone else Quote
Lowreedgang Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Currently, I have Cedar Ridge, Vandegrift, and Hebron as medalists, but anything can change. Haltom's program seems to be evolving at a very fast rate, and Richland could be a dark horse in this situation. I'm waiting for a full roster to put together my full predictions. Quote

I also think haltom and Richland will atleast make finals . The programs are very strong and haltoms bass line is killer . I’m pretty sure they got best bass line other Hebron at heb drumline contest early this season ! Quote
snares Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 In past years hasn’t Hebron , Marcus and flowermound done Marching ?Marcus marches at previous drum-line competitions, such as HEB or Plano. They host lonestar and are unable to compete. They do perform in exhibition.Flower Mound will not be going, I think because of how late it is this year and they are really going for it at Grand Nationals. Hebron just isn’t marching this year, possibly because of the depleting marching section. And Haltom’s Bass is absolutely incredible. I expect them to win it, but I personally believe this is Cedar Ridge’s competition to lose. Quote

Agreed but I also heard one of haltoms basses won’t be attending so I’m scared to see what’s going to happen ?? 4 basses ? Maybe they will pull it off . We will see Quote

bingogooberman Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 A couple things- enrollment for this keeps getting smaller and smaller each year which is strange to me as it's always felt like the premier drumline competition in the state, even more so than pasic (when it's in tx) I'm sure the later date has something to do with it but it's something to note nonetheless. Also, I'm noticing the finals structure of this competition is gone this year. Also, as an alumnus, Newman smith dropping to ss2 red is alarming to say the least. Last year saw a slight drop off for them after losing Hobbes to vandegrift, but they were still able to make ss1 red finals. I noticed they dropped divisions at PDLC this year as well but were still able to pull out a win. Also, as golden circle members (or whatever it's called) they shouldn't be going on first but that doesn't bother me at all, just something I noticed. Quote

NTxBandMom8 Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Is it a director’s call as to whether a group is division 1 or 2? Quote

In SS1 Silver, Richland would have placed 4th with a score of 91.3. My Thoughts: Cedar Park... Holy guacamole. That was incredible. They weren't necessarily cleaner than Hebron, but cohesively that was incredible. I really wish Vandegrift could have been here so we could've seen that line up and those placements. I'm SO glad that LD Bell made their first appearance, they obviously were welcomed as they performed INCREDIBLY and won their division handily. I always love to watch Forney, especially during indoor season. Very very very good group from Forney! I personally had North Mesquite winning over Denton, but that shows how much I know. They were very close and the division of captions shows that. It was weird to see Newman Smith in a smaller division. Obviously they still won in a pretty darn close competition (setting penalties aside). I was blown away that Coppell has a JV drum-line! I had heard of a few High Schools doing that, but it's amazing that they got to compete and that is really good for those kids to develop as players. Very fun. I can't remember seeing them perform in years past but it's very possible they have been going for some time now. I do hope this competition is revamped with all of the drum-lines were used to seeing out there, FloMo, Vandegrift, etc. These competitions are that last final push for high school marching season and without them, seasons would end a little shallow TO ME. Obviously Grand Nats is indeed "Grand" but it's not the percussion fest that we see at Lone Star! The penalties killed me this year. It's crazy how many there were and how significant they are. It seems to me that most of them are time related, as I wish the directors and staffs were more prepared so kids wouldn't have to bear those penalties. There might be some complications but I really wish those penalties did not exist! Favorite Show- Hebron HS Favorite Cymbals- Richland HS Favorite Bass- Hebron HS Favorite Quads- LD Bell HS or Hebron HS (exhibition, Marcus!) Favorite Snares- HOLY CEDAR PARK HS Favorite Front Ensemble- Hebron HS or Denton HS LeanderMomma 1 Quote
