mbui Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Show Roster: http://scores.yea.org/showinfo.asp?show=345&recap=full After hosting the USSBA Texas Regional in 2000 & 2001, the USSBA will return to the Houston area after a five year absence to host the first ever USSBA Texas State Marching Band Championships. The championships will be held at the state-of-the-art Pearland Independent School District Stadium (The Rig) in Pearland, TX, also home of last year's and this year's Bands of America (BOA) Houston Regional Championships, on October 27th, 2007. The USSBA will host several clinics and competitions across the state of Texas this fall. You can view the schedule at: http://www.yea.org/site/PageServer?pagenam..._Schedule_Texas About USSBA The US Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) was formed in the Fall of 1988 to provide high school band programs with a competitive circuit featuring the best adjudicators from across the continent and a world class venue for the US Scholastic Band Championship. In 1997, the USSBA began an evolution and expansion into other areas beyond marching band and created a Scholastic Services organization within Youth Education in the Arts, which includes the US Scholastic Band Association. Under this banner, we intend to provide all students more opportunities to perform, representing their high schools. Today, the USSBA boasts membership of over 700 participating high school marching bands. Each year, bands are offered 150 festival opportunities as well as invitations to compete at major Regional Championships and the US Scholastic Band Championship. Bands in the USSBA compete in eighteen different classes from Class I A to Class VI Open, performing and competing with other bands of like size and talent. In the recent past, USSBA has begun to support high school concert music programs as well. The USSBA is based out of Allentown, Pennsylvania and is part of Youth Education in the Arts (YEA), the parent organization of DCI's Crossmen and Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps. ------ Past Scores 2000: http://www.marching.com/events/2000/scores...0.html#Angleton 2001: http://www.marching.com/events/2001/scores...1.html#Angleton Quote

Trumpet Master Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Why is there two award ceremonies? Quote
mbui Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 QUOTE (Trumpet Master @ Oct 3 2007, 05:37 PM) Why is there two award ceremonies? Since it's not a Prelims/Finals format, there are two awards ceremonies due to the amount of bands that are attending. If we do the ceremonies all at at one time once the competition is over, it's going to take forever. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 QUOTE (mbui @ Oct 3 2007, 05:45 PM) Since it's not a Prelims/Finals format, there are two awards ceremonies due to the amount of bands that are attending. If we do the ceremonies all at at one time once the competition is over, it's going to take forever. That makes sense, but does that mean those band who compete in the first half are not competing with those in the second half? USSBA is really confusing. Quote
mbui Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 QUOTE (Trumpet Master @ Oct 3 2007, 08:21 PM) That makes sense, but does that mean those band who compete in the first half are not competing with those in the second half? USSBA is really confusing. The bands are performing in their class size. Each class is on at a different time. Quote
bossman Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 what he said. a 2a school is classified as what? Quote
mbui Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 QUOTE (bossman @ Oct 4 2007, 08:26 AM) a 2a school is classified as what? Classification is based on band size rather than school size. The classes are as follows: Group 1: 1-43 members Group 2: 44-58 Group 3: 59-77 Group 4: 78-103 Group 5: 104-140 Group 6: 141+ In addition.... A Class = For groups new to the competition scene or are in their rebuilding stages. Open Class = For more experienced groups. Quote
