They need to just make one finals for all bands. The D1/D2 thing is honestly dumb. Sulphur and Aubrey could definitely place well against many of those “D1” bands.

Why is it dumb? I think more contests need to do it in order to try and attract more smaller bands. Lots of smaller bands are not doing as many contests because they simply cannot keep going somewhere and competing against big 5A and 6A Powerhouses. Yes, there are a few smaller contests out there but some of the 2A/3A and even 4A's can't travel as far as other schools that are more financially stable.  I would even argue there are several 3A and 4A shows that are a lot better then some of the 5A/6A shows I have seen so far this year.

Yes, Sulphur Springs can beat some of the 5A schools especially since they are probably going up to 5A maybe next season. You can also make a case for Aubrey beating some 5A schools. Heck, you can even make a case that Mineola can beat some of them as well being a 3A because they have done it before.

The contest this year is not as big as it once was. I think there is only 19 bands there because there are several other contests going on around the DFW area and some people that didn't have success in Royse City have elected to go other places.

I see where you’re getting at. I still thinks it’s a little ridiculous having a small finals like that. That’s just my opinion but yours is totally reasonable as well. I just think it should be like Melissa with 4 small school exhibitions and then the finals. Or something similar. Last year in small school finals at royse city there were only 4 bands. Those 4 bands last year could’ve easily made finals in large school finals.

Yeah for some reason every year the number of bands going to Royse City is dropping. I remember one year they had 30 bands and the 5A/6A Finals didn't start until 11 at night.

Division 2

1st Sulphur Springs

 2nd Mineola

3rd Paris

I’m pretty sure I have Aubrey and Sunnyvale mixed up so I’ll just say one of them was fourth and one of them was fifth.

6th Prairieland
