I know the last couple of years Quitman has been the first team out when it comes to making State in Area C. I think they have a real good chance of cracking into the Top 6 but there are several very very goods bands. If you go to State in Area C, you earned it! Quote
Gpk1968 Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 I don’t see things changing very much at this area contest this year. It’s pretty stacked. Quote
TexasStrangers Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 Spoke with a friend this afternoon and she told me she saw Mineola last night. From what she was saying it looks like the band is bigger then last year and they are well ahead of where they were last year. Quote

From what I saw on social media they look the same size they've been for the past several years. Quote

Trumpeter75 Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Based on all the leap frogging and close scoring in competitions this will be a tight grouping. Hope someone doesn’t get left out of state. I hope we can get 30 bands scoring all 1s in regionals to allow for 6 bands. The group I see up top are Mineola, Atlanta, Commerce, Redwater, winnsboro, and Queen City. Quote

TexasStrangers Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 This area I think the top 4 spots are on lock with Mineola, Redwater, Atlanta and Winnsboro. The other two spots I could see a battle between Commerce (beat Whitesboro at BOA) and maybe Orangefield. I was hoping Quitman could be in the mix as they always seem to be the alternate to state but it's gonna take 30 in order to get 6 to state. I believe 30 qualified last year which allowed 12 to go to finals and 6 to state. I know earlier this year they had a UIL meeting where it was discussed that if for every school that places in the Top 3 in that Area would get an additional school to go to the state which if that would have passed Area C could have been taking 9 to state instead of 6 (Mineola/Atlanta/Redwater 1/2/3) . However, I can't remember if that discussion was rejected or table for next year. It's hard to say who has a leg up. I'm still trying to figure out how Winnsboro beat Redwater at Mineola and then beat Atlanta at Mt. Pleasant. It concerns me that Winnsboro or Atlanta did not win any of the caption awards. I think if Redwater can do well then it's gonna be a close race between Mineola and Redwater because Mineola almost beat Sulphur Springs at Royse City who many people are thinking their show is a Top 3 4A Show this year. If Atlanta beats Redwater then it's gonna be another real close one this year I think. Quote

Mineola Contest - Redwater beat Winnsboro and Queen City in prelims and won all 3A captions. Winnsboro beat Redwater and Queen City in finals. Mount Pleasant Contest - Atlanta beat Winnsboro and won 3A band and 3A percussion in Prelims. Winnsboro beat Atlanta in finals. Quote
Kmt1 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 I guess I'm an over optimist, but I hope that 35 bands qualify to this area. The quality is there. So many bands get left out because of the brutality of the region. Students deserve to receive the reward of being a state qualifying band even in this very tough area. Let's hope for good weather. These bands that depend on electronics would certainly be at a disadvantage if it's drizzling/steady rain with no halting storms. I suppose I'm polyamorous when it comes to this. Best wishes she's to everyone at Region! Quote

TexasStrangers Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 As of 10/19 10 Bands have qualified for Area C (7 Open and 3 Military) Region 10 - Anahuac/Kirbyville/Orangefield/Warren/Woodville (Warren/Woodville were not at Area last year) Region 21 - Arp/Winona (Both were not at Area last year) Military - Buna, West Rusk and Troup. Schools that were at Area last year that did not qualify were East Chambers, Kountze, Tatum (made it to Area Finals) There are 9 bands left to perform on Wednesday in Region 3. There are 20 bands left to perform on Tuesday in Region 4. If all 29 bands make it (shot in the dark) that would be 39 total bands with 7 spots going to state. This week Area C needs a minimum of 25/29 bands to qualify in order to take 7 to state which I don't see happening. I think it will be greater than 20 but less than 25. Quote
Kmt1 Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 I really wish we could hear from the southern end of this region, there have go to be patents out there who can contribute. We want all bands to be successful. Tell about your band, the show, the struggles.....we will be there to support you too. This is a very competitive region.....and you contribute to that. Share the success and success excitement of your band....we all root for everyone. Hope all is well. Safe travels. Quote
