UIL 6A Area C 2025

Other than each Area C band adding about 30-40 members….

What type of areas could help them get closer to finals?

I’ve noticed a few things about AREA C. 
In 5A they only had 15 bands but still had their 10 finals spots and 4 state spots 

in 4A they have 21 bands with 12 finals spots and 6 state spots!!!! 
 

what gives? There’s not THAT many military bands in the area are there?

That makes sense.

i assume something similar for 5A? Maybe not 13 but enough for them to keep the 4 state spots ?

To answer your original question, for some it’s gonna be experience. I know there was a handful of bands with something like 50% freshmen. With a year under their belt it could be the difference from not making finals to advancing. Looking at you Horn and Garland 
 

that goes for new directors too. Schools like Sachse, Duncanville etc will also have a year under their belt so watch out for that. Although they made finals, they could place higher because of this.  
 

maybe new fresh show designs? I feel like I saw a lot of desert 🏜️ western styles (Forney, Horn, Duncanville etc), a lot of retros. Are they all using the same show designer or what? Lol you know what show was cool? Rowletts, the music to go with the red riding hood theme, the simple tree props and guard in red hoods. That was simple yet immersive. More of that please lol you don’t necessarily need a giant snake or fire breathing dragon to put on a good show. 
Idk we could be in for a major shake up what with some schools potentially leaving to 5A and others joining 6A. So whatever adjustments they need to make will be more telling when we know who we’re going against lol.

Irving ISD may make it scary for realignment purposes. Irving reports just 2,237, which is almost 500 students below their previous number from 2 years ago.

No, the answer is that DISD is in Area C and 5A DISD band consistently make 2,3,and even 4s at UIL region.  A good chunk of bands making less than a 1 results in less state spots.  Hopefully after there are more bands that can add state spots after realignment.

But point is out of 41 fantastic bands Area C bands finished about where I would have expected but hoped each might be a few higher. 

I think just going later in the day would've helped them out

We have officially lost 3 of our previous area level bands to reclassification. RIP Garland, Rowlett, and Mesquite. We didn't gain any obvious schools in reclassification (schools in a district that already have other schools in Area C 6A like Mesquite ISD or Garland ISD). We will have to wait and see what other schools we lose or gain in redistricting during the spring.
