Did it last year.

I really hope it does for the kids, I feel bad for the seniors who might not get to march at finals if we don't move it, I know it doesn't work well logistically, but honestly Monday is the best option for the performers themselves

If it is prelims only I doubt Pearce will do pretty well with their 9:30 am performance, and if finals does happen, that could definitely impact their run and if they even make finals, they definitely could, its just a matter on consistancy

I highly highly highly doubt they will pick move to Monday. There is schools for everyone and would cause all sorts of issues with security. This will likely be avoided at all cost.

and you don't want the same thing as last year to happen

moved to Tuesday and it never rained on Saturday...

Pearce has an 11:00am performance, but I do think their call time might be 5:00am or even earlier. Good thing their football game the night before got pushed up to 4:30pm on Friday!

I know 2 years ago they had a 9:15am performance and it was their first time making area finals for the first time in somewhere over 10 years. And last year they performed at 3:45pm and got 6th in finals. So there's not much telling in having an early run, just hope for a good performance!

How much time is currently scheduled between prelims and finals? Where could they save time?

Don’t throw snare drums at me. What if they only took top 6 to finals to save an hour?

how many schools have ever moved from 6 or lower into a state spot?

Alot. The thing is you have to remember the point of preliminary rounds is to sort out the good bands from the ok bands. Preliminary placement to finals changes all the time. Panels change and small adjustments gets made. You have to every band a shoot at finals and in finals if you have one. I'm give an example, last year area I was prelims only a judge put them 20th in music and every other judge had them in 2-4. They got 7th in prelims and if their was a finals probably would have made state. Even still with your idea, you wouldn't have had them trying out for state.

I think either berkner or lake Highlands in 2023 was at BOA prosper and had a 10am performance time and had a crazy call time of 3am or something and had a football game the night before. I believe which ever school it was got last at BOA.

Skyline performs at 5:00pm, finals announcements are at 5:30pm, and there's a TCU MB performance in between those

the first finals warm up is at 6:25pm and performs at 7:30pm

so the could try to squeeze some time out, maybe by cutting finals announcements and just sending them out (which would be sad) or telling TCU to cancel (also sad), it seems to be hard to make any cuts in time

Only taking top 6 wouldn't be super fair, there could be upsets and we'd never know. You still have to give those top 10 a chance

That wouldn't change anything. You'd have to do something to performance times
