On the other forum I saw you marked Skyline as a 1 but they are not bolded like others with a 1. Did they advance?

Everyone from region 20 advanced except for Lancaster (2, 2, 3). Skyline slipped by with a 1, 1, 2 according to texasmusicforms.

With Skyline advancing, think they were slated for last March of Area. That will would make them 5:00 and move everyone back 15 minutes. Would also put the last break between Waxahachie and Sachse! And Nimitz before lunch.

Oh wow that’s actually pretty awesome! I don’t remember the last time a 6A show band made it to area. I know Sunset has in previous years but not sure if they’re 5A or 6A

What is a “show band” per se?

While discussing types of bands…have heard this year about “JV” bands! Are these bands where enrollment is so high they can’t all march together or does this tend to happen at HS’s that are like 9-10 grade campuses?

Show bands would basically be HBCU style. Lancaster, Townview, Skyline, Carter etc would have this style. Matter of fact most Dallas Highschools run this style.

Saw Waxahachie at the Region 20 contest tonight.  The clarity, tone, and intonation that band is achieving right now is simply phenomenal.  And that is a very demanding book! They’ve been really good for several years now, but this year’s group seems to be at a higher level to me.

Also, Lake Highlands is sneaky good.  A smaller 6A band, but they do so many things well that judges care about.  It’ll be an uphill battle for them to crack the top 4 in such a competitive area, but I think they will place higher than most would expect.

saw duncanville tonight and wow they upped their game i’d watch out for them… those 3 soloist at the end KILLED it!
